Wales vs England - 16/03/2013

Its 44 years since Wales beat Australia in Australia (1969, although they did beat them in New Zealand in 1987), they have only ever beaten South Africa once in 26 attempts (1999) and its coming up for 60 years since they beat the All Blacks (1953, that's even before I was born).

Ssshhhhh!
They think we don`t know about their SH touring record!

I'm glad Wales won. This way, we don't have to hear about the "renaissance" of English rugby or how they should basically be crowned 2015 RWC champs.

Nah but we know how to upset England :)

Therein lies your problem I would suggest, success for you is beating England and winning a yearly second rate NH tournament.
You win a grandslam last year them lose to Samoa in the autumn, it must do your heads in!

Steve Walsh was absolutely appaling once again yesterday, but the fact of the matter is, this England team simply isn't good enough to win a grand slam.

To be honest, I expected/feared a result like yesterday, and it was only a matter of time before a half decent team showed us to be the average side that we are. We have been strung along like pupits on the back of three decent performances - one of which came in the automm against New Zealand. As I eluded to in an earlier post, we have a back row that is so unbalanced it's frightening, and the backs have absolutely no idea how to execute basic plays on the back of turn over ball. Brad Barritt does a job - nothing more, nothing less, and hopefully yesterday's put's an end to his international nightmare.

The fact of the matter is, we all knew the weaknesses before we kicked off, and Wales exploited them to great effect. Until Stuart Lancaster and the coaching team start playing players in their correct positions, and base their selection criteria on form over loyalty, we continue to struggle.

Stuart Lancaster and the England coaching team; go and hand your heads in shame, and think carefully about the direction you are trying to go in.

I'd have to agree, he wouldn't be bullied by the occasion and played by the law. ;)

Edit: But seriously, Consistent is what i'd describe his performance during which Wales had their fair share of decisions or non decisions go against them.

I don't know if that's entirely fair. They did go 4-1, and beat NZ and had a fair record late last season.

Disappointing game is disapponiting. But let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

My main gripes for England:

- Lack of awareness. England had few tries but if you watched replays, we actually developed many try scoring chances with favourable overlaps. It's that the players inside are so used to not looking to the wings that these overlaps are wasted. If the players had been more aware of what was going on around them, we could have been in a very different situation. Hell in the Wales game we presented 2 nice overlaps that we compeltely wasted.

- Lack of support. Says it all really. When players make breaks we don't have people on their shoulder to keep up the pressure and our forwards aren't up fast enough to clear out and keep momentum.

- Poor clearing of the ruck. In the game vs Wales the Welsh would clear the ruck pretty quickly most occassions. The English side in comparison were poor at clearing the ruck and terrible at competing. Part of this was due to Walsh being selective in punishing breakdown infringements but that still doesn't excuse it.

- Inability to react. If we are weak in the scrum then for the love of God don't try to play games in the scrum. Get the ball in and out again as quickly as possible.

Lastly slow line reorganisation. Forwards should not walk back to the line when on the wrong side. Whilst he is on the wrong side there is a gap in the line that can be exploited by a pick and drive as the Welsh did. We need our players back in position ASAP. Most teams do this well when the game is right on their try line which is why teams really struggle to make that last meter. England have become sloppy again with the speed of our forwards reorganising. Granted it's tiring but more tiring is having to then rush further back when the opposing team just battered through the line where that forward should have been.

More proof that he is a deluded, biased, bitter, c***ty little **** of a creature.

Embarrassing to say the least ...

It wouldnt be as bad if he was trolling as a one off but this has always been his attitude. Not sure theres anyone else I despise more in rugby

I think Mite got into with him on twitter....I also saw him being rude to Nigel Owens for no particular reason on there a while back...he just seems like a boob. On scrum he wrote a pre match article about how Walsh was going to be out to get England....hardly something to get the ref on your side before a match.

Austin Healey has always revelled in being an absolute cnut and probably always will. If I'm honest, I felt like calling people the same name when I saw they'd ruined a nice rugby thread with mentions of that odious goat felcher.

That said - no hiding, no excuses - I'd be very happy not to see Walsh for a long time after that performance. Nothing more to say on that. I'd even rather talk about Austin f**king Healey...
