Well that match was bloody awesome!!!!!! (sarcasm). Neither team played atall well, kinda as I was expecting, two teams making errors left right and centre. Hook was probably the best player on the pitch, mainly because his kicking was very good, pinned Ireland back throughout the game. Warburton was once again very good, although he didn't have as a big an impact on the breakdown as I hoped. Goes to show that there's many strings to his bow though. Matthew Rees and Alun-Wyn had decent games too. Phillips was actually ok, to my surprise. One of Shane's worst games though, there's something about playing Ireland that he doesn't enjoy (apart from '08).
For Ireland, O'Brien was good, although he did concede a couple of needless penalties. Earls looked sharp, but again knock on or two from him. Bowe was Ireland's best player, great showing from him. Impressed with the way Ireland held up Welsh players in the tackle, really took any momentum out of Wales' game. Dreadfull kicking throughout.
The ref was utter **** today though. Made numerous bad calls against Wales, and then decided to even it out by an almight cock up that led to Wales' try (helped by the linesman). The result was probably about right, but the manner in which it was achieved was far from right. No problem from me if Irish fans fancy a moan after that!
Both teams look waay off the pace at the moment, very nervous. England have been the only good team in this years competition. But for one poor game, Italy have been the next best performers, not good!
Also, couldn't the TMO have also been brough in, under the question "Is there any reason for me not to reward the try?"
Not allowed to rule on anything in the build up to the try, just in the act of scoring. Bit silly really, but it's to stop ref's constantly going to the video ref to check stuff like crossing, forward passes etc. Doesn't stop them from checking with the video ref 9/10 anyway mind!
