Wales v Ireland

Sean O'Brien to win it all on his own, man of the match against the Italians and has been picked in planetrugbys team of the week for the last two rounds, go Seanie, plus he hates the English...probably.

Yes but as with many Planet Rugby team of the weeks, they're wrong.

Wings I'll ignore, but Tindall and Sgarbi? Phillips? O'Brien? Healy? Planet Rugby maybe the best site for impartial rugby news, but they can **** off when it comes to picking teams.

I didn't see all the England match but who was better than SOB, Zanni maybe I thought he played decent but none of the other sixes. (Sorry if I'm wrong only saw the first 10 and last 20 minutes of the England match)

I'd have Wood over O'Brien in a heartbeat, he's been qqqquuuaaaalllliiiittttyyyy
Haskell has been surprisingly good too

He has actually.

Haskell playing well.
ROG playing well.
Parks playing well.

Is this a sign of the end of the world?

I'm running out of steam. I dont think I'm going to be able to improve on "a Backline of 9. Bergamasco, 10. Traille, 12 Worsley would probably be more effective then the crap that the legends Philips, Jones and Roberts are going to serve up in two weeks time.".

Someone else will have to take up the baton.

Daaaamn, I just got trolled  Well done. I am ashamed of my internet savvy. :D

That's a kiss of death if ever I've heard one. A few months ago you were saying New Zealander Peter Borlase will play for Ireland!
What I said was he was signed with that intention and well I not judging him until next season. And well if we are honest if you are an import and wanted to play for Ireland the least competitive spot is TH prop and prospects aren't exciting either in terms of competition for spot.

And on all this Sean O'Brien/Haskell/Welsh Backrow debate - Sure Ireland have to come up against both England and Wales so no better way to see who has what than putting them up against eachother.

No, he was signed because all of Munster's tightheads were **** and they needed an extra body, not because Declan Kidney thinks that 3 years down the like he can polish a turd like Borlase. He was a panic signing and a bad one at that. If he turned out to be decent, he could be considered three years from now (like Brett Wilkinson) but any talk that he was told the Ireland 3 jersey was his for the taking is horse manure.

[taking up where Logorrhea left off] Borlase might be good enough to get into the Welsh backline though.

My thoughts on this game are that Ireland are better player for player but home advantage and Ireland's tendency to give away kickable penalties by the bucketload will make it a tight contest. Wales to win by about 3 points.

Snoop lets not forget IRFU had input in this signing and well I not saying Declan Kidney sanctioned this but Borlase was not a panic buy.
We never registered him for europe which shows that. He has/had a good reputation back home and well is burnt out.
He has been playing rugby non-stop since Dec 2009 (Canterbury started pre-season) and that's a long slog. We all seen that with Kearney who after the Lions tour to this present day is only a mediocre player who hopefully returns better after getting the much needed rest.
I'm not saying he will be any good but at least give the guy a fair shot.

On the game I think Ireland will struggle in Cardiff as home advantage is a big advantage but if we can match them in front 5 and I think (bold prediction) we can take them in scrum and lineout then we should have enough of a platform to squeeze home

Well if you ignore the fact that Haskell's been wearing 7 for England lately, he's still a 6. And he was good against Wales, great against Italy, and outstanding against France. I would have given him man of the match, although Palmer wasn't a bad shout at all. He nullified Chabal and the French in general with some incredibly agressive tackling.

You aint gonna get any bites from that snoop. Not a patch on Logorrhea.

Not many Irish players I'd personally have in the Welsh team. I'd take Heaslip and Ferris if fit from the pack (though he's always injured so maybe not worth it), possibly Sexton, and Bowe. I'd take our second string front row over Irelands. Second rows and centres are/were quality, but close to past it, so not worth it over the younger players we have playing in those positions. Warburton is better than Wallace. Phillips and O'Leary are both sh*t, so no difference, whilst Peel or Rees are arguably better than Reddan. I'd also consider having Hook over Sexton aswell, I'm just not quite sold on Sexton yet, but Hook hasn't been playing 10 recently. Shane and Halfpenny over Earls (maybe even North), and Byrne over Kearney or Fitzgerrald.

But then I'm biased, and you'd say something similar amount the amount of Welsh players you'd have in the Irish team, as you're also biased.

You won't be taking us in the scrum. If Mitchell starts, you will probably do ok, but will get shoved back a couple of times. If Adam Jones starts or when he comes on, Ireland are gonna be going backwards. I can see Wales getting a few penalties scrum if the ref knows what he's doing.

You could have a field day at the lineout depending on how Wales show up in that aspect. They seem to be up and down like yo-yo's in that facet of play. Some games they're good and barely miss a throw, others they fall to pieces and loose all the important throws, especially attacking ones in the opposition 22. I think we'll do ok, and the lineout will be fairly even, based on recent games. That's me being optimistic though.

from a neutral's perspective, you'd have

1. [strike]Jenkins[/strike] James
2. Rees
3. [strike]Jones[/strike] Mitchell
4. Davies
5. O'Connell
6. [strike]Ferris[/strike] O'Brien
7. Warburton
8. Heaslip
9. Phillips
10. Hook
11. Williams
12. Roberts
13. O'Driscoll
14. Bowe
15. Fitzgerald

which makes 9 welshmen and 6 irishmen, injuries or no injuries. Still, it doesn't make a difference because Ireland are a better side.

I'd have Reddan and Sexton ahead of Philipps and Hook any day of the week. I'd also have Byrne ahead of Fitzgerald.

Dwayne Peel is also twice the player Mike Phillips is!
