Wales v Ireland

Andy Powell playing at centre for Wasps today after both Waldouck and Flutey went off - Solves the problem of Bishop/Davies being injured :p

Ahh, i see you are from Gorey. I was down in Rathdrum right before Christmas, you had some terrible weather down there.

It was wonderful weather ..I was through Rathdrum at the time too there was about two foot of snow at the train station ...utterly brilliant.

Big crossroads for Ireland. Do we try push on from Scotland game and keep Reddan/Stringer combo are do we go back to failed method of trying to muscle teams out of it.

fixed

seriously I doubt that any one else in the country would want TOL there.

Well that I'll agree with because at moment we need a passing 9 to suit our team. TOL has attributes that are good but doesn't suit plan we are trying to play at the moment

Tomas O'Leary, Andrew Trimble and Fergus McFadden are among 12 additions to the Ireland squad for Saturday's Six Nations game against Wales.

Scrum-half O'Leary missed the win over Scotland because of injury but will hope to displace Eoin Reddan.

Backs Gavin Duffy, Johne Murphy are also added to the Irish squad.

Forwards Rhys Ruddock, Tony Buckley, Kevin McLaughlin, Donnacha Ryan, Mick O'Driscoll, Devin Toner and Mike McCarthy are also called up.

In fairness have them guys won't get a sniff. Mike McCarthy call baffles me

Hopefully we will see McFadden getting a shot at 12 with him being called up but I doubt it.

Tomas O'Leary has been declared as fit for the Wales game. :(

Sigh, so even though Reddan was vastly superior to O'Leary he'll be dropped straight away for the useless nogoodnick. Also what's with Kidney's refusal to pair up Sexton with Reddan? Like oh my gawd.

In fairness I think ROG has earned the start against Wales but also Reddan performed well and earns his start too if he gets it. And I know McCarthy is there to hold bag but would someone like Domnic Ryan benefit more from experience.
I'd like to see McFadden get a go at 12 too but it not going to happen. Like we can't win grand slam and realistically we won't win 6 Nations so shouldn't we prepare for World Cup and test these guys out in a serious test match environment. ROG has been a totally different player since Sexton came along and made the 10 jersey competitive. If we can get that same hunger going in a few other positions we could be a serious team and have a serious cut at the World Cup

You make a fair point there and I've made it elsewhere, Spence instead of Johne Murphy would make sense too.

But (to parrot somebody else's answer) it seems like the Irish management would rather pick the players who've been coming along and know whats expected then waste time on teaching a youngster. Which makes at least some sense even if I don't agree with it.

Well if that is Kidneys thinking he can just look at how that turned out with Munster where now we are having to clean up a development mess.
Spence I can say is worth his place but Johne in to cover back 3 positions so wouldn't put Spence in at his expense. I'd prefer a like for like swap.
