Wales - Six Nations 2012

Wales can eff off, Peel is on great form and I don't want him going off to international rugby at any point :p

Gatland wouldn't pick him anyway

Hah, nope. Win win right? How is Andy Powell doing, by the way?

Picked up where he left off at Wasps - on good form, and not getting isolated very and even managing to hold onto the ball in contact
Can't fault his commitment either - Really happy at his signing, to be honest

You either love him or hate him, our mongo. I think he looked better on the blindside after he stopped running sideways at eight. Not sure how many more Welsh caps he'll get, but I think he will do fine if we call on him.

Nicky is better than Tovey/Biggar, but still out of the picture.
No way Peel is better than the reborn Mike Phillips, though.

Are you or real?

Why do you throw names at everyone you disagree with?
Can we have our own opinions and not have to deal with a condescending remark from you?
You really are hurting my feelings :(

Wow ... simply wow.

I find it astonishing that a remark such as that has come out when its quite clear cut Dwayne Peel is twice the player Phillips has been / ever will be and Peel has been on fire for Sale. Luckily for Sale, Peel has fallen out with Gatland, so the chances of Peel being called up are limited.

This board has changed .... sad to see every member of staff that has a differing opinion is told 'you can't have that opinion' and 'how dare you challenge my great opinion'.

Eh, no, I am a big boy and can look after myself.
Doesn't matter, its only the internet, no one cares about others opinions on the internet.
Last few times I have seen Peel play for Wales I haven't been too impressed. Phillips over the RWC was fantastic, and Lloyd looks to be a great prospect. The Peel situation might be another Rob Howley situation (Like Nicky, and possibly T Rhys Thomas and McBryde... allegedly.)

Guys can you let each other have their own opinion please.

Both Peel and Phillips have had their ups and downs. Peels decision to move to Sale completely ruined his international career, especially because he wasn't first choice at Sale when he first arrived. Pretty much every time he's played for Wales since his move, he's been pretty ordinary if not rubbish on occasion, although I can sumpathyse given that they'e usually been one off games. Still a player of his quality should have been able to step back in and perform. Phillips was poor post Lions tour up untill the WC. Still though, he was great in '08 and '09, and phenomenal on the Lions tour and during the WC. I can't comment on Peel's good form of late for Sale as I haven't the time to watch the Premiership.

I'd still have Phillips over Peel at the moment. Re-watched the 2004 game between Wales and SA earlier, and I've gotta admit that Peel was a joy to watch. He really fit in well with the way Ruddock wanted Wales to play. I'd love to see Peel back involved, but there really does seen to be something very wrong in his relationship with Gatland, Howley or whoever in the Wales coaching team. His inability to get released for training doesn't help either, but that's neither Peels, Sales or Gatlands fault.

Gatland isolated Peel at training. Treated him as muck. He sat him on the bench and left him to rot. When he trained he was never fully fit and that's why he broke down so often in training.

I can't comment about what happened during training, but if you've heard something then maybe something did happen. I know Peel had a long while where he struggled with injuries, and that certainly didn't help. However I remember a few games where it was Peel's passing that really let him down, and that's simply not good enough for a scrum half who's main strength is his good passing. Phillips' passing can be poor or ponderious, but it can be argued that the rest of his game (defense, try scoring and power) make up for it somewhat. I was always a massive Peel fan, but his time has probably past now being 30y/o. Who's fault that is, I don't know. It's just all a massive shame.

Beck & Shingler have got to be in, while I think Webb and Morgan could find themselves in the squad, but not in contention to actually play. (A bit like Kristian Phillips when he was called up) I think Cuthbert's problem is his size: He doesn't look entirely comfortable when he runs, as if his legs are too long and his frames' too big for himself. He certainly has potential, but Harry Robinson's been mentioned before- He's the guy I'd really like to see more of in the Blue and Red shirts. However, Cuthbert is playing well at the minute and so should probably be the man to fill the shirt, but I'd rather Scott or Liam Williams got it, personally.

Is Harry Robinson injured or anything? It's just that he's not been involved with the Blues recently, despite Tom James, Mustoe and Czekaj being out injured. Is it just that the Blues management decided that playing Gavin Evans at 12 ahead of Henson was a better option than continuing with Halfpenny at fullback and bringing in Harry on the wing. I really am afraid that Baber and Burnell are going to be the next Holley and Humphreys, not very good.....

Not sure about Scott Williams, his form hasn't been great. That being said, very few players have improved since the World Cup (Faletau, Lydiate, Halfpenny)

Cuthbert was one of the quickest in the sevens squad, and that is saying something. I think he might just look rather awkward, as some people do with their size/frame. He moves not like a 6"6' wing, so I'll credit him with that. Robinson could perhaps be involved with the wider training squad, but I would like to see him get a few starts for the Blues over the 6N.

Robinson was with the sevens until recently, and then returned to Cardiff RFC. He was an unused replacement v Ospreys.

Gonna be very interesting to see the squad once its announced! Some great points being made by everyone on here so far. I think the biggest question will be how many of the "injured" players are in the squad. Also will THE ORANGE ONE be included??

I'm in two minds whether i want Mathew Morgan involved. I think that he needs more game time, and his lack of regional games against big opposition would suggest its a bit premature for him to be included; but its Gatland so you never know. I think with the possibility of Biggar being in Wales squad (cue abuse), Morgan will get some valuable gametime!!

Exited!!!

Morgan's being given a couple of starts by the O's, so maybe he can force his way into the squad. His kicking let him down last week which was a big shame because the rest of his game was good. If he can slot the penalties tomorrow night and demonstrate his ability with ball in hand like he did in the first 10mins last week, then who knows. All I know is that I don't want Biggar in the Wales squad even though it would allow Morgan to start for the O's as you said TVH11.
