(Very) early thoughts on the 2017 Lions

Ok so English media all seem to say
Haskell
Robshaw
Ford
Joseph
Launchbury

All these guys have been told they're not in original squad.
Also suggestions Hogg may be 3rd choice 10 again too. And have seen it mentioned here Murray may be an option in case of emergency. If he goes.

Surely Farrell would be the 3rd choice 10? And if Launchbury doesn't go or if Joseph doesn't in favour of Roberts/Davies/Te'o I will be genuinely angry. Agree with Robshaw, Haskell and Ford not going though. Also, if they've been told that they're not going does that mean that they are first on the list to go if someone's injured?

Presumably Farrell will be 2nd choice 10.
Just going by media. I know none of Munster boys have got any call
 
Isn't there quite a big thing with the Lions about players finding out that they're in the squad at the same time that the public do? When it's publicly announced? If so then how do the various media outlets have any clue who's gotten calls, who's in, out etc. Or am I just making that up?

If none got a call I'd be delighted. We'd never be that lucky though. Personally I think this tour sets lads up for nothing but failure and burnout.
Anyway Sweets wouldn't fit on here as he is a good running wing and not crash ball specialist that will be on this wing

Used to be case but now it seems squad was submitted Sunday and people contacted. I suppose permission has to be got off clubs etc to take their players for that amount of timem not that there is issue just formalities
 
If they want a crash ball option hanging on the wing it makes sense that Heaslip is rumoured

This was reported in the media. The captain was due to be informed today and the rest of the players wouldn't find out until the names were read out at the live presser on Sky tomorrow.

Wouldn't be surprised at all.

If the Lions committee want to start their inquest into a 3-0 drubbing then it all began when Howley was appointed head attack coach. It wouldn't surprise me to hear Roberts, JDavies and Biggar all announced tomorrow. Gatland is ruining the Lions ethos with his cronyism and favouritism. There's a strong case for the next head coach not being an incumbent head coach of the home nations. There's an obvious conflict of interest.
 
Cuthbert has clearly been sharing his naughty pictures of Gatland with Roberts.
