(Very) early thoughts on the 2017 Lions

The new jersey looks awful, not a patch on the previous Adidas one, which was one of the best designs in a long time. Such a shame. Expected more from Canterbury to be honest.

What's wrong with it? Red with a white collar is exactly how a Lions jersey should look. We have to have the sponsor's logo, and at least with Canterbury, we don't get 3 white lines on the shoulders and sleeves.

Looks a bit shiny although pleased to see a bit of a collar.

Hate seeing a sponsor's name plastered all over the front of an international shirt tho. One thing English football does better although more than offset by the poppy denying morons at FIFA.

Kinda ****e... Worse than their England and Irelamd jerseys for sure.

I think FIFA were right to be fair, not that it is likely to happen but if England had a poppy on their shirt while playing Iraq or Afghanistan, who are both members of FIFA, it'd be a bit of an insult.

Edit: Just saw Tigs post in the Political thread, re-posting there.

IMO by keeping things fairly plain, they're gone for a retro look. Unfortunately the retro look fails totally because there's a flipping great sponsor's logo in the middle of it.

I quite like the look of the 1959 retro jersey, but not enough to be tempted to take eight quid out of my wallet!

Don't like those jerseys, especially as I love the direction Addidas have taken recently. Pretty copy paste job from Canterbury, and I don't love those collars at all.

Go with the classic jersey, I got an Irish one before the last RWC, doubt I'll get another Ireland jersey again in my life, really good quality. Although my replica jersey days might be over altogether.

Yep there's a tenner difference between the classic jersey (£54) and the Pro Jersey (£64). Small saving on Amazon over the official Lions store. Pro Jersey looks like better material, but if you are just wearing it down the pub to watch the matches or even lucky enough to be going out to NZ next summer the classic jersey will suffice.

I actually meant the retro one you just posted, I have an Ireland 1876 commemorative yoke. Classic works too in the context though.

Think the 2001 Lions jersey was the best of the bunch myself. Dunno why, just love it.

I wasn't aware Redruth was in Yorkshire...

PMSL, I used the drink with a Scotsman whose definition of a Cornishman was a Yorkshireman with all the generosity wrung out of him! I can't even blame autocorrect, on my side, it was a crappy Spanish laptop keyboard and I was in a rush as my local was just about to open!
