U.S.A. vs. Canada. RWCQ 1st leg, 17/08/13

I feel much better about our chances after seeing the yanks line up. Still don't think we are favoured to win this round, but if we lose by less than 5, the ball has to be in our court. What is the weather forecast for tomorrow's match?

Could be like 2009, a narrow States win at home followed by Canada turning the screws at home.

Weather is pouring rain overnight(it has been for a few days) 90% Thunderstorms in morning followed by 70% TS in afternnon turning to cloudy with showers, looks a little muggy as well with humidex values in high 30 C's. Will be a very wet pitch and wet ball, could be a sloppy game and may take an edge off of the crowd advantage.

That's what I was thinking, IMO, a wet match would favour Canada over the U.S.

Chuckanut Bay high schooler ***ie Lamositele is set to become the youngest player to ever suit up for the USA.

The young prop is named on the bench for the USA team to face Canada Saturday at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, SC. Should he get a run-on, something not guaranteed, by any means, Lamositele will do so at 18 years, 188 days. The previous youngest Eagle was Thretton Palamo, who became the youngest-ever 15s World Cup participant in 2007 when he played against South Africa at 19 years, 8 days.

“Titi is the real deal,†said Salty Thompson, who coached the young prop on the High School All Americans team during their tour of Argentina. “He is big and physical and he gave our opponents problems when he attacked the gain line. We were using U19 scrum rules, which was too bad because with ***i and Valdemar Lee-Lo in that front row I think we could have done something there if we were allowed to push further.â€

Eagles Head Coach Mike Tolkin said the choice was on form.

“Titi was brought into a camp as a young guy who we wanted to see more of,†said Tolkin. “He showed us a lot. He played well against Life in our scrimmage, and really stood up to the older guys. He’s a good player and a good kid and has a great work ethic. He is an athlete, and he’s got his head on straight.â€

High praise from Tolkin. Lamositele comes from the Chuckanut Bay U19 program in northern Washington State. Chuckanut operates a vibrant group of age-grade teams, and, once Lamositele earns his first call, will have produced three Eagle props in Shawn Pittman, Nick Wallace, and Lamositele.

Interesting that Manoa has been moved to Lock, both North American sides have such strong back rows and weak 2nd rows that both teams have done this (Sinclair for us). Manoa vs. Cudmore could be scintillating.

Weird to see that lineup without Emerick who I think will be missed by the Eagles as to a lesser extent will be Hume. #5-8 is pretty darn impressive for the States.

Hume has an injury, which is holding him out.

I knew of the injury but not what it was specifically.

Did anyone see the IRB match pack apparently the Caps total is 335 for the U.S.A. and 334 for Canada!! That's unreal I wonder if there has been a match with such a high total caps that are so similar. The average age of players is virtually identical as well.

Yanks line up:

1. Shawn Pittman
2. Chris Biller
3. Eric Fry
4. Lou Stanfill
5. Samu Manoa
6. Scott LaValla
7. Peter Dahl
8. Todd Clever (C)

9. Mike Petri
10. Toby L'Estrange
11. Blaine Scully
12. Andrew Suniula
13. Seamus Kelly
14. Taku Ngwenya
15. Chris Wyles

Glad Scully got the call up to the staring 15 and looking forward to see those guys it's a great Eagle lineup.

Excited for this one. And it looks like the weather has cleared a bit. Forecast for the evening is 80 and cloudy, with a low chance of rain.

That's good to hear the PNC matches this year ended up having a pile of water logged games which weren't that fun from a technical standpoint. hour and a half to go now. Nerves are building.

Kickoff isn't exactly on time....TSN2 having some issues with the simulcast, getting graphics getting stuck over one another...why didn't they just go with the American commentary this week? Instead of doing a studio job from a distance.
