as for an annual thing, i would be in for that aye, no matter how crap this is, i would be keen to go anywhere in the country as it doenst really cost that much to go around.

looking forward for an awesome weekend coming up
 
About Canterbury Vs Auckland. I'm keen to watch it, as long as the tourney is over by then.

Everythings coming up Milhouse for our tourney so far. Meeting new people, in a new city for some of us, playing rugby on xbox, watching rugby, having bbq, getting **** faced and chasing chicks, well some of us, should be an awesome weekend regardless I'd say!

Plus it's open to any and all that can make it :D

Now that would be awesome! With the amount of planning time involved, next year could be absolutely huge. I know that David, Andrew and myself are dead-certs for next year pending the likely success of this year.

Having getofmeland or Dan would be awesome. By next year there'd be T-Shirts, caps and other things as prizes. If it's Invercargill, we'd organise a hall to be hired out and maybe even have some advertising going too. There's such a wealth of possibilities!

....I will let you know by tomorrow whether there is room in the van. By the time I read your post on Monday the weekend had passed and other people had shown they wanted to go down with me....so just waiting tonight to see who might pull out then I will lt you know whethr there is room or not.


With the draws thing.........it looks like even with 3 projectors we are going to be pushing for time. Even if we start at 9am and finish at 11pm it looks like it may be stretched if we have 10+ people playing with the current round robin setup.
There is a way to get around this.....after ONE round of round robin....the second round can be split into two groups...with the top 2 from each group going into the 5 person old NRL finals system...and the 5 position coming from the 3rd and fourth from both groups playing a semi then a final against each other. This system may cut down on the time a bit.
Otherwise going from what I see from the draws.......we will not have much time for non gaming activities.

well at my place there is to matresses, one upstairs just on the floor, its a queen, the other downstairs on a base, but its a single, sorry dan your room was going to be used for a bed if you wearnt here, you just left ya matress there.

also an airbed free as well so gg there is room at my shithole of a place :)

One round of round robin sounds like the way to go and then the split as you said.

Do we have a confirmed number and start time for the saturday?

Im home all day Friday so if people are bowling around just let me know - ill need to whip the vaccum around LOL.

Sunday 10pm kickoff in the league GG - ill be watching it on the big screen if you want to hang around for it. Go the broncos.

Accomodation: Still 2 single mattresses, 2 couches and a double bed available at my place if anyone needs it.
 
Found a cool piece of free software which bulids a draw and stuff

Just based on 10 players we are looking at a 45 game round robin from 0930hrs till 1930hrs for it to be complete.Thats with no lunch or dinner break either, Then finals on top of this.

Whats peoples thoughts on getting the round robin started on Friday evening?? those who cant make it to saturday i can reschedule in the software to update the draw.
 
Sorry guys, only had fleeting glimpses of the forum whilst at work today.

What if we were split into two pools of five and the top two from each pool went through automatically, and the two third place-getters played off for fifth spot to enter the Old Nrl Top 5 system?

I think this would speed things up and with a random draw it should be cool. What do ya think? This way even if it were 12 people it should still be faster.

One request, if we did do that draw and all three Southlanders ended up in the same pool could we re-draw? Only asking I know that does take a little of the random factor out of things. Still we gotta remember the NZRFU makes a draw that spreads out all the good matches over a weekend so it's not like rigging anything.
