OK ive put together a quick draw of 12players, in 2 divisions(6 in each), for testing purposes only.
Starting at 0930hrs and ready for finals series at 1530hrs - so this is most definitely the fastest way to play.
So once ppl turn up at around 0900hrs Saturday well need to split into two pools of 6. My suggestion is that we put 6 black cards and 6 red cards together, shuffle them up then deal them out to each person. Red cards Div 1, black cards Div A. Then within about 5minutes i can get the draw done in the computer and were ready to go.
What are we doing for food and drinks lads - are we all putting in some pingas or just BYO and hope we all remember to bring something?

well, i was plannin to get some food and bring some, gg was going to get the meat, but we all should put in to it i think. even if its only 10 bucks

I'm sure all us Southland guys will put in for the food, etc. I know Dave and Andrew well enough to know they'll be in for food and beer.
I agree that it'd be nice to play everyone, but I think that the pool split idea is going to give us all that little bit more time to get things done.
If there are any cool match-ups that we'd like to have straight after the finals then we can. Like a two-on two or something. If we play a full scale round robin, that'll be all we do.
So looking forward to this. I don't care if I get the wooden spoon, at least I'll be having a good time!

Great you found the software for the draws!!! I was getting depressed thinking about typing it out. I'll leave my laptop at home now.
What about everyone plays everyone ONCE on Saturday...with a break midway in between for whatever. On Sunday morning to mid afternoon we do the 2 groups and spread evenly by first round rankings. Sunday late afternoon to evening the playoffs.
Have all games bar the playoffs by COIN toss to determine the who gets seat/side/first team pick/kit/stadium. Tough way to go but to cater for time we have no choice.
Top two from each group go through to 5 team playoff system
Final place in the 5 team playoff system is given to the winner between the 3rd and 4th from both pools doing a mini semi and a final. Ideally not the best system but we are short on time.
The playoff system is fair though...so as long as you are good enough to make it that far it should be alright.
All the ones knocked out like myself can either watch, eat, cruise, or play on the Mame cabinet. Maybe even JLR on the third projector...or guitar hero etc.
2Wordz....had a bit of a dispute with my ex last night. So I won't be coming down on the van but will be going by bus. Sorry about that......wish I could make it up to you.....

hmmm....looks like we may have to do everything bar the playoffs on Sat then. Playoffs for Sunday morning....
That means I better book a ticket for the overnight bus on Sunday evening....lol....missing out on the Grand Final!!!....tis ok...it ain't the Warriors hehe...
So why don't we therefore try and gather at the "dream" house between 8am-9am Sat so we can debrief and have kick off at 9am sharp???

I'm all for getting some of the games out of the way on Friday night at Danny's. We'll have Danny, Woosaah, David, Andrew, Gay-Guy and me. It'd be crazy to be cutting it so fine on the day we leave. Time-frames have a way of blowing out.
We could get almost half the tourney done on Friday night, with the same net effect we'd get playing those games on Saturday.
In not a big fan of finishing a tourney on Sunday whilst thinking in the back of my mind "**** this better finish soon or I'll miss my plane". Kind of gives my opposition a huge advantage.

i think if it gets to the finals, whoever makes it to the finals will be hard to beat as they have played against everyone and got there, should have worked out how the opposition plays and hopefully win.

We probably need an answer here as to when we start, as in 9 hours we start our way to Wellington...
I'm all for those that are there Friday avo onwards play each other, then just have to play the new people on the Saturday. Makes sense doesn't it?

I agree. We're not going to play friendlies against each other to ruin it for the Saturday people. I know that I don't want to play on Sunday, I'm not giving away losses (with fear of running out of time in my mind rather than the game), I rather forfeit, even if somehow I'd won every game.
In a rugby world cup, everyone doesn't have to play everyone. It's a nice idea, but so would be playing a whole Super 14 season with all you guys, that just can't happen.
The latest idea bandied about is to play the finals on Sunday. Thats alright for anyone who can change their plans, but unfortunately, we can't.
Im not too concerned if I don't play 187 or his cuz, or if somehow I don't draw Woosaah. With the faster format discussed last night, we'd be finished by early Saturday evening and still have time for any matchups we desperately wanted to play.

yep whilst playing everyone is nice - time constraints dictate that we split into two seperate groups. I like the randomness of the split as it could mean that the supposed favourites all end up in the same pool - so will be fight to the end whereas the other pool may have only 2 godd players who sweep thru.
Either way its fair and randomly picked. After thinking about the format im against playing any of the matches Friday night as its a group comp and all should be present at the comps beggining and end.
