TRF EA Rugby '06 NZ Tournament

I used to be that guy that the rugby team beat up if I had lunch money that the nerds hadn't rolled me over for.

So, once I toughened up a bit they put me at halfback where I learned how to take a new level of hammering.

Played prop all my life - have now switched to league and low and behold - im still playing prop. Gotta say it tho, any rugby props looking for more ball should switch to league - amazing the difference for the big men up front - get all the ball and a rest every now and then - oh and the interchange. My new favourite sport to play!

Played everywhere except front row, mostly lock then wing, halfback to second five. Will hopefully have a couple of social grade games by end of season once I'm right, as unfortunately injury prone.

Hows everyones training going? With World Cup on must admit probably played more Fifa lately but still get the odd game of rugby in here and there...

Well I am still depressed after the beats my mate gives me.....playing him probably feels the same as how Dennis Connors boys felt racing the original Black Boat...out of you hands the result is.....

Great news!!!!

I have unlocked my mates invincible defence!!!! Now I have beaten him convincingly......WOW!!!!! I am so amazed my theory worked!

As a result I have made a big step forward in my gameplans.......

No doubt he will raise his game to defeat my new attacking strategy......give it a week probably....then I will be stuck for a month trying to out think his ne defence....

...arrrgh....I am feeling the doom returning........

how do people feel about the holding the ball in the ruck (R3 on xbox) , fair tactic or scum tactic? - is as effective as the early tackle techniques to shut a attacking team down? my opinion is that its equally as bad as the early tackle

Your thoughts guys?

I get frustrated at having to wait until the opposition decides I ca have the ball back, rather than me spinning it early... plus every nowe and then they can win the scrum feed if they keep it held in.

But same for both sides I suppose...

he just hates it cause i do it on him all the time :)

danny i am free a few days this week wanna few matches?

Bloody Danny!!!! Forcing me to give up more secrets!!!!

The holding on the ball technique is no problem for three reasons.

1. It is a part of real rugby and you do run the risk of being penalised.

2. It keeps players in possession "honest"

3. It can be overcome.

Nothing more said........ B)

so im guessing htat its gonna remain inthe tournament? also have we confirmed international or Euro/Super14?

I do it too. I agree with GG, it happens in real rugby and there is always the risk of a penalty.

Dobrien7 hates when I do it too, but there are things he does in the game which frustrate me, although I'm not asking for them to be outlawed.

More than happy with it, and in a 10 minute game, all you attacking maestros will still get your opportunities with ball in hand, you just might have to wait 2 seconds longer, big deal. :p

true true.....

I was playing Mono Turd this arvo, and whilst my fullback was lying semi-decomposed on the field, he snuck past for a well earned....(cough, cough) try.

Still, he would be the quickest developing player I've seen in rugby gaming. Hope his progress continues.

Meanwhile, by pure accident I've discovered an invaluable wee trick...........a rule can't be made to stop it if you don't know what it is.....heh, heh!

Well just spent pretty much the entire weekend playing rugger with Bullytheguru and Spawn.

Pretty even throughout in wins etc but the three of us agreed to ban the hold ball in ruck manouvre and this meant the games were fast and furious with lots of tries.

More games on Thursday night with Woosaah!!! bring it on.

Well I have finally come to the point of stopping most of my trainers moves. :bravo:

I have also got a wider range of attacking options than he has :D

For the first time since playing I can now say that my defence is stable. Very mch like NPC defence. My goal is to make it international level defence....then eventually the defence of the AB's.

However I amy be eating my words next week since my trainer has a knack of figuring out ways to overcome whatever I think of.

If there was not a rugby comp coming up I would have posted so much stuff in the Tips thread. Actually I really am still tempted to post stuff up to give everyone a chance

We have discovered some amazing things about this game that makes it more sim like than you think. Not all is as it seems. Some of the things we have discovered the programmers did not plan to put it in (I think)...but if they knew about it they would "claim" that it was part of their programming. Either way motion capture can be used to your advantage if you manipulate it. The art of using motion capture to beat the system goes as way back as the 1980's when the "invisible punch" on Kung Fu master was discovered.

I want to share these things because EVERBODY who plays R2006 will have a more enjoyable experience when they learn them. Two of the things we have discovered have changed the way we pay so dramatically that we had to "relearn." (One of those methods I have shared in PM with EVOL......the other I have shared with Sanzar on MSN).

..and the thing is....it is only early days with discovery!

After so many attempts EA has finally made it.....now their successive versions of Rugby should be even better.

When the comp is

yeah i feel that you are going to be lightyears ahead of the rest of us.

though saying that every person had a different playing style and you may find it difficult against some poeple more than others.

the plan is to be random in attack i feel. dont have set patterns. dont do the same thing all the time as sooner or later your opponent will pick up on what you are doing, even if he doenst know it :)
