Burger Odendaal I assume? That's been rumoured for a couple of weeks. He'd be a decent signing, but Gopperth and Fekitoa are leaving a decent sized hole to be filled.

Cracknell has been really good for Irish. As a utility back row who will be around all season, he's a very solid signing. I'd have been pretty happy if Quins were in for him (always the acid test for me haha).

Jackman was talking about Murphy to Connacht before the Leinster game on Friday. Said some more Leinster squad players are expected to be on the move. Not sure if he was just referring to the already heavily rumoured ones like Dunne, Ryan and Dooley but some people have also been pushing rumours about Ross Byrne, Deegan and Leavy.

Jackman was talking about Murphy to Connacht before the Leinster game on Friday. Said some more Leinster squad players are expected to be on the move. Not sure if he was just referring to the already heavily rumoured ones like Dunne, Ryan and Dooley but some people have also been pushing rumours about Ross Byrne, Deegan and Leavy.

I guess time of year.
Players who are not likely to get picked for the rugby World cup squad looking around.

Leavy could prob get decent money in France next year for example.

I think the other two make more sense than Leavy. I still believe in my heart of hearts if he came back properly he'd be our starter. But realistically expecting him to comeback anywhere near that level is being too optimistic. Of course it also means what team would actually try and sign him when you've no idea what his performance level is at the moment and if he could last more than 5 games. There's probably also a certain degree of loyalty to Leinster after they've stuck with through all of his injuries.

I'd be less confident on the Dooley to Quins rumour.

Marler has another year and we've re-signed Garcia Botta, Baxter and Els which means we're well stocked on the loosehead side of the scrum.

Out of interest @saulan, as a Stormers fan/SA fan , what's your view on Burger? heard lots of good things about him and will cover the ball carrying centre we are missing.

that's a player that has been a part of the furniture for the last ten years now in SA rugby. Known for hard running and has been consistent over the years, but I think has just been blocked out for playing for SA because of so many standout centers we have been churning out, so you feel bad for him. He has been pretty consistent over the years, so if you're looking for someone reliable and big that can bash things up as well as holding his channel well in defense, you are pretty sorted. @TRF_stormer2010, do you have a different view on him?

Interesting... we have been screaming out for a player such as this since someone like Benny Jacobs. Fekitoa was supposed to do this but injuries have caused chaos and we have gone with Gopps at 12 recently.

Yea, he isn't coming in with a busted knee or anything like that which could flare up. Looking back most of his injuries have been one offs like ankle, arm and eye injuries. That being said, he is a basher, so ****les I think do happen (but he also has about 150 club caps by the age of 28, so still pretty active, especially since Covid wrote off 2020-2021 seasons)
