Transfers rumours

Common Sense?
In rugby adminstration?

I never thought I'd live to see the day!

Matavesi -> Falcons.

Ospreys have just signed Cory Allen from the Cardiff Blues, so I can see some sense in this.

Beck, Fonotia, Allen, John, Watkin is probably enough centres, although both Beck and Allen have historically been very injury prone.

Madigan gave good interview there. Seems like he's aiming at getting back to Ireland and admitted his original plabs backfired a bit. Not sure what he meant by it but it'd be good to get him to Connacht

Presume he thought he'd do a Sexton, his stock would rise abroad as they realised what they were missing. He'd get a season or two on more money, playing in France, then return the prodigal son.
When in reality he's just slipped off the radar.

Completely, if he came back Leinster right now he would only be used solely as a 12 or 15, in Carbery we have a guy who is as good if not better than him outside of goalkicking and Ross Byrne isn't far behind and, like Carbery, is 6 years younger. Connacht, a battle to start against Bleyendaal (most likely a losing one given Munster's style) or Paddy Jackson's understudy are his options on this island.

Don't think he'd touch off Tyler and like Leinster I think he'd be a 12 or 15.
As I've always said he's not a top 10 but is a cracking rugby player. I think he's a 12 myself

Connacht have basically came out and said they don't want Madigan at 10. You'd have to imagine that means he's all but gone to UK and possibly will regret day he left Ireland for another few years

Don't want or can't afford? He'd be their best 10, unless Boshoff comes really good, and easily their best centre option to pair with Bundee. Connacht aren't good enough to turn their noses at a player like Madigan if they can fit him on their books.

I'd imagine he's not worth the dough at all. Their current tens minus Boschoff who remains an unknown quantity are very bad.
Ruane also commented on wanting to involve their new coach in all their recruitment decisions and he's more than a bit busy right now.

Doesn't want. They certainly could afford it with IRFU. I've no doubt they can afford it. Being honest I think Madigan's whole plan backfired a bit and now no province wants him. Connacht are loyal and I think Carty and Boshoff are their preferred and as I said don't think he'd get a starting rile in other 3 provinces. But was interesting Ruane said "he's a skillful player but his skillset isn't what we need." And stated Keane is actively involved in recruitment.

But being honest I think it's hirt Madigan to see that he left and effectively now opened the door to 2 lads behind him in Carbery and Byrne. Add in emergence of Tyler Blenyendaal I'd say as a 10 those 3 are better or in bracket of much higher ceiling at 10 and that now means he left as 2nd choice 10 to being possibly 6th choice10 at best. That's before factoring in if Hanrahan plays well enough he's better positioned as he is back in IRFU umbrella.

I'd also argue real winners are IRFU.
They've nailed a point across to players.
If Madigan returns he'd be on alot less than was offered last year.
Ireland's 10 options have boosted massively and his departure was part of reason.

Agree with all that.

Madigan is up **** creek.

Nucifora never meant it in 1 way but has got it spot on. Leavy is l8nked with move but is only rumoured with Irish provinces. Like he knows he has to stay local if he moves if he wants international rugby.
Zebo said today he'd like to play in France but knows when he does he won't be in green

Max Deegan to Connacht
Dan Leavy to Munster seem very realistic now.
Also Noel Reid to Connacht is doing rounds

This would back the first two up... Christ, we need at least one centre if Reid goes, they must be looking at playing RO'L at 13 more often. without Reid last week we'd have played McFadden or Carbery at 12 with Kirchner already at 13, we can't exactly afford to lose two backrows either having SOB, VdF, Heaslip, Murphy, Conan, Ruddock, Ryan and Timmins looks fine but it would only take one injury and an international period to have us down to bare bones, one of Murphy, Connors or O'Conner (Who's rumoured to be off north) would have to step up! Any chance of getting Oliver back? :p

Edit: Mads to Saints for half a mil a year is bouncing around.

No chance of Oliver. Think if Leavy comes you'll see Tommy more as a 6.
Pom Leavy Stander
Tommy Oliver Jacko.

Being honest the thing is Leinster have alot of quality and they all want to be first choice guys.

Jordi to wasps was rumoured too so it'll be interesting

Cobus Reinach confirmed to saints, it's a good day, i'm hoping instead of Madigan that Cobus can convince Lambie to come down now :D
