Transfers rumours

Don't they have the biggest squad in the Prem or am I making that up?
Biggest in the Prem, along with Newcastle, both with 50 senior players.
Brizz also have a few too good for the Champ, who are generally assumed to being over-paid.
Next year, they'll have even more who are too good for the Champ, and will be assumed to being over-paid.
fortunately, next year, they'll be in the Champ - where there is no wage cap IIRC.

Woodward is marque.

Not sure I agree with Which about a few being too good for the prem honestly only a couple would get into the majority of other prem teams.

Numbers don't mean too much TBH as said Falcons have a big squad and they are not up to the cap.

Bristol were significantly over the prem cap when they were in the championship, from what I heard.
But there's no cap in the championship

Probably front loaded their contracts - pay 750k for the last season in the champ, then 100k now, for example.

Off route a bit. But what happen there if a team is over cap and gets promoted?
Like can you be punished for coming in to league over the cap

I presume you're expected to adhere to it, if you're over its up to you to trim the fat to get under.

But it is a possible loophole like if you have load of guys on year 2 of 3 year deal you could say we can't release them and be over.

All this talk of cap, squad size etc. Dont think we wont be losing players between now and next season, Henson is likley going and I imagine he's one of the biggest earners. Steve Lansdowne isnt the sort of person to attempt to either break cap rules and/or put the long term future of the club at risk. Pat Lam seems to be planning a bit of an overhaul at the club and I think the current setup is learning more about the division and who is good or not good enough for it.

And as far as Im concerned, we aren't relegated until it happens, if it does at all.

Specifically against salary cap regulations; though you could potentially have contracts specifying sifferent wages depending on which competition they're playing in - it would probably need to worded as being a completely separate contract. That regulation is to stop clubs from rotating their Marquee player.

Not like that stopped Bath anyway.

Still most likely bullshit - not that either of us are going to convince the other.

Those regs apply to premiership clubs though... champ has completely different regs, doesn't it?

Donncha Ryan to Racing? Oh boy it's agent hour. Donncha Ryan will die and be buried in Thomond Park

The Champ has no salary cap (that I'm aware of).
The Premiership does though; and it states that an annual salary is the average of the salary paid for the contract duration.
My understanding (having read as much as is available to read - albeit a copule of years ago now)
If you pay someone £700k in year 1; then £100k in years 2 & 3 of a 3 year contract; then for the sake of the salary cap, they've earned £300k in each year; and it makes no difference if 2 of those were in the Championship unless on a different contract.
If that player was on a different contract when in the Championship; then it's a different contract, and not applicable.

Surely they could just give the players gifts, or draw up individual annual contracts that the player signs ahead of time?

Spoke with him today. He pretty much said it wasn't agent talk. And that he hates having to work 20 weeks in a year so why do more lol

I wouldn't be surprised if contracts had a renew clause in the event of promotion.

Completely different sport, I know, but UFC fighter renegotiate their contracts if they become a champion, regardless of how many fights they have left on their current one.

Heard a few different ones on Strauss - Exeter, Newcastle and a couple of French sides (can't recall which?)
