Transfers rumours

I don't think Lancaster's philosophy would suit Leicester. There would be a huge amount of pressure on him in the short term as well to prove himself at such a big English club. He needs more of a long term project in my opinion.

Glad everyone is finding this funny.
I'm genuinely surprised any club wouldn't want him.
Whilst he didn't work out at international level I think he could be an exceptional club coach/DoR

If Tigers don't want him for some bizarre reason (they got any ex-players they can give it to to keep it in the family?), as I said before, I'd jump at the chance.

Go away you dirty vultures. I'm going to petition to get Stu the key to the city of Dublin and try and get him to change his name to Leincaster, he'll love us forever.

Rather have Johnno than Lancaster being 100% serious.

I don't want a director of rugby to be the coach, I want the DOR to be a figure head I think that was Cockers main problem. I want DOR.

Johnno or someone as DOR and get a knowledgeable Head coach and surround them with a large coaching group.

Basically the Sarries setup, where the coaches coach.

Lancaster is an assistant coach (or academy head coach) at best he isn't a leader, he wants to be liked and that isn't what a DOR should be like. His stint at Leeds at DOR (which was awful and Neil back did a better job tha. Him FFS) and England head coach proved that he he doesn't have the strength to be top dog and successful.

Was reading there that Cullen wants Lancaster as co head coach next year at Leinster. Both deals are up at end of season and their deals are tied.

Regards Leicester Tigs wasn't it argued that a big issue was Cockers and Mauger didn't see eye to eye and had different views.

Think the important thing is getting coaches that are on same page and also that are similar to what suits the strengths of Tigers

The plan was to allow Mauger most of the control with Cockers focusing on forwards and handling more back stuff and if needed motivation.

As Kay said Alex Ferguson allowed his coaches to do all the talking and when needs be he would come in with the hairdryer treatment and it would have more of an affect. He let the coaches do there jobs.

Cockerill by the sounds of it was going to do that but in the end couldn't do that he had to get involved in that stuff and that's why he clashed with Mauger. He was doing the jobs of DOR, Forwards coach, Scrum coach and defence coach and didn't really want to spread the load.

the whole concept of DOR is a bit perplexing.

I know Deano didn't do much coaching whilst DOR he mostly used his coaches for that.
For some it means they are head head coach
Diamonds
Cockerill
Mallinder
Baxter (I think)
Ford

For other it is more a behind the scenes role who use coaches to coach
Richards
Humphreys
McCall
Ryan

Didn't Mauger try and change up the forwards, as well?
Maybe that's where he clashed with Cockers - Cockers wanting a traditional style pack, Mauger wanting 8 Tom Crofts interlinking in back play (according to BT sports, anyway)

O'Connor and maybe Fitz (not sure) where Mauger signings replacing Parling and Salvi (both of whom are not exactly heavy weight) the rest was Cockerills.

The DOR is confusing, I get the sense that Cullen in Leinster is more of a DOR than a head coach being honest, Lancaster is probably our main man right now. That or Cullen learned outrageously fast during the summer!

DOR's are like Directors in film or Producers in music... they're there to guide a project in a particular direction, but aren't necessarily responsible for the execution/implementation of any plans/strategies. That's the role of Cinematographers/Engineers (specialist coaches).

Ethan Waller to Worcester, with the rumours that Ruskin is off elsewhere (Gloucester, Sale, Sarries or quins) it makes sense, the lads only getting better and better but doesn't get starting time at saints because of his brother, would also fit well with the rumors of Thacker joining them so Waller would beef up the front row

Beef up, like what you did there.

It would be a real shame to see him move, but as you've said he's not getting enough game time so you couldn't blame him.

Yeh I like Ethan I might be wrong but feel he has more of an all round game than Alex.

AM was saying he expects to announced Thacker re-signing in the next couple of weeks.

I'll assume that if Worcester went down then Waller and Thacker moves would be cancelled? or is it only in the French league where that really happens.. because two young talented English lads on the market would lead to a mad scramble haha

Just picked up a copy of TRP today.

Rumours as follows:

Ethan Waller - Northampton > Worcester
Ben Meehan - Melbourne Rebels > Sale
Amanaki Mafi - Melbourne Rebels > Sale
Matt Todd - Crusaders > Gloucester
Cameron Orr, Joe Batley, Dan Thomas - all Gloucester > Bristol
Tatafu Polota-Nau - Western Force > Harlequins/Bristol

They also mention that Sale are looking at Ben Botica, but seem to be dismissing it.
