Transfers rumours

Cheers.

Looks like Sale know at least some of the positions they need to be recruiting for, if that's to be believed.

Either that or agents just using there name more to boost up prices elsewhere now that diamond and the owners have said they are splashing the cash.

(Although don't see why they need another 8 Mafi will be pricey and they are desperate for a couple of props.

They're both supposed to be mid-season signings, rather than new for next year.
Diamond has already said that front and 2nd row are areas we need to strengthen for next year (I mean we need to do it now really but how many players are knocking about?)

They have a lot of holes to fill - big carrying 8 is one of them IMO.

TH lock, FR, 9 and 10 are the others.

Mafi is in contract with super rugby team and said that he was looking at going to england maybe for next season.

So what do you do with Beaumont Rats?

Surpised Glous are after Todd and not Sale also.

Collating Glos rumours. Bold for confirmed.

Yann Thomas --> Val Rapava-Ruskin
Paul Doran-Jons --> Fraser Balmain
Jeremy Thrush --> Grant Gilchrist
Sione Kalamafoni --> Carl Fearns
Matt Kvesic --> Matt Todd
Greig Laidlaw --> ???
James Hook --> Owen Williams

If all this happens, Glos might actually make it into the top half of the table next season. Upgrades nearly all around.

George Ford ----> Leicester Tigers now doing the Rumours again.

The rugbyinsideline Twitter thingy saying so take with pinch of salt.

BUT not the first time I have heard this rumour recently

I think his size is much more of a bar to entry as an 8 than it would be as a 4.

6ft 4 and 17 stone 6 sounds too light for a lock

Think he just about qualifies weight wise but 6'4 seems a little short. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Hask in unfit, Beaumont should get a run at 7. This 6 Nations will be very interesting to see what is dove in the back row, with all 3 of our starters potentially out. I can't see Jones straying from his winning formula of 6 - Workhorse, 7 - Powerful on defence and at the breakdown 8 - Out and out all carrier, so my prediction (assuming Hask is unfit) would be:

6. Tom Wood
7. Mike Williams
8. Nathan Hughes

20. Teimana Harrison/Josh Beaumont

If Launch and Kruis are out I can't see Itoje shifting to the back row. If Hask is fit then Williams to the bench, Hask to 7, although Hask and Wood may be too similar, so Williams could then be shifted to 6 instead.

I'm surprised Josh is only 6'4, I've always thought he was maybe 6'6, he looks a lot taller - maybe cause he's relatively slim.
Don't think he'll make a lock, tbh, certainly not for a few years. I'm yet to see anything other than an acceptable performance at lock, by him.

Well he's ****ed then, ennit?

Definitely looks a lot taller than 6'4"... didn't Eddie say he was in as a lock, not as an 8.

Beaumont's 2.01m according to England and 1.93m according to Sale. And 5kg lighter.

For you perusal....

1.93m (or 2.01m) Beaumont with 1.98m Launchbury

Beaumont looks slightly taller than Launch to me there.

But here's a great one, I have to assume 1.78m Haley and Addison are both stood on boxes, whilst 1.85 Arscott is crouching a bit, and 1.93 Beaumont is standing normally (2.01m Beamount is perhaps also on a box?).

Rassie has confirmed we're in talks with Chris Farrell and James Hart saying the deals not done, but let's face it, if he's name dropping them in interviews it's as good as done. He also said we're in talks with two others, one of which is almost certainly JJ Hanrahan. Not the foggiest clue who the other guy is. Only guy we've been linked to is Porter but that doesn't make much sense to me.
Also Steve Crosbie looks to be going to Connacht from Munster to cover their injury crisis which is a no brainer and something I thought should've happened weeks ago. If Connacht had sense they'd try make it a permanent deal. He won't be contracted with us soon, and we likely won't really need him if Johnston reaches fitness and JJ brought in.
