Transfers rumours

Ford > Leicester

Not sure if it has any real base to it but it's a rumour swirling around at the moment.

I wouldn't want to see it happen. Bath are among my least favourite teams, but I'd hate to see them go to the dogs. I also don't think Ford would get as much game time, although with Youngs at 9 and Manu outside him, as well as behind a strong pack, from an England point of view it makes sense.

I don't think Tigers have said they are interested?

Just a BT guy on rugby podcast saying it.

Sorry I misworded, in the article I read it said that Tigers were interested in getting him back, you're right that Tigers haven't made a statement or anything. As is likely though, the article could've simply made it up to create a story.

If you listen to the rugby podcast it is talked about in the most recent one.

That's why Williams is out of contract at the end of the season and will mostly likely move back to Wales

Re Moriarty & Owen Williams, with Gatlands law looking like it'll start to bite, it makes sense for both to move back to Wales.

It'll be interesting to see where they go if they do. I can't see the Dragons offering enough of a draw, so I'll leave them out of it.

Moriarty: Blues and O's have plenty of options in the back row, so it'd make most sense for Moriarty to go to the Scarlets, where he'd be a great fit. They're crying out for an aggressive ball carrier, so they should be gunning for him with all they've got.

Williams: Again Blues and O's are well stocked at 10, though Ospreys' don't have anyone obvious after Biggar and Davies, and both could be involved with Wales Autumn onwards, and they possibly lack a little depth at 12 too. Still, can't see Williams going there as third choice 10. Scarlet's have Patchell, but after that it's the young, unproven U20 guys Dan Evans & Billy McBryde. Williams would offer a good alternative to Patchell, being quite different. He was originally a Scarlets player too.

So both to the Scarlets would be my bet. Moriarty on a dual contract, Williams straight contract with Scarlets.

I might be reading this wrong but wouldn't Tigers be able to use homegrown credits on Ford after 2 seasons with us?

Yup,
From the prem site:
Home Grown Player Credit
â€" A club shall be entitled to up to £500,000 worth of credits for players (£50,000 per Home Grown Player) who have graduated from the club’s Academy. A qualifying player:
â€" Must have joined the club before his 18th birthday; and
â€" Earns more than £30,000

Could play a factor in Tigers looking at him I guess.

Guess we will wait and see.

I do say I doubt the rumours about what Mike Ford might have done at bath are true if Ford is really not happy with Craig for the way he sack his dad.

I still don't see what the rumours that Ford is particularly unhappy are based on?

It seemed to be "well his dad was fired, wouldn't you be unhappy?" more than anyone suggesting they had inside information.

Unless he wants to move further North, I can't see any particular reason for him to leave Bath (assuming the team improves significantly under the new coaches).

Can't see Ford leaving Bath this season. The new contract means nothing is Leicester are willing to fork out the cash but we're not going to sell one our key players early season especially when we have ambitions of our own and the way he's started off this season. There will have to be marquee signing in the wings for us to give up Ford without much of a fight.

It's the case Leicester and Ford might want the deal to happen but we have to want it to as well.

I think Ford has said publically he was unhappy with how it was handled. But then asked a question from journalist what you expect him to say? Would you publically bad mouth your own father?

Kiwi Jason Woodward is apparently heading to Bristol from Hurricanes, explicitly stating that he wants to play for England. Article says he's English qualified although doesn't elaborate on how and Wikipedia only says "He spent two years in England on exchange at Hartpury College". He also has apparently played in Australia before and considered trying to qualify for the Wallabies. Stinks of mercenary to be honest.
