Transfers rumours

My understanding is that Ludik is a freebie in terms of Project Player. We are only supposed to have one and Ulster Rugby made the case that he was already here, is a solid player, and is IQ next year – "can we keep him please!" I'm assuming that the IRFU approved it but if he had left there wouldn't have been another PP slot opened up.

If that is the case I'm quite glad we have kept him. Solid player who has never let us down and good player to have about when everyone else is away at internationals next season.

Mind you, doesn't help the nagging feeling about Piutau not coming next season.

Also, Kankowski isn't the back row forward who has been signed.

The rumour on UAFC was Kankowski to Waratahs, aye.

I am very happy if Ludik's a special extra, as reported, and not so much if we end up with 3 NIQ backs and 2 NIQ forwards, as not reported, but either way, I'm mystified the IRFU went for it.

If it's to be reported like Leinster and here it could be none of us are getting anything big. It may be a case of Herbst, FVDM, Ludik, Piennar and an NIQ but like us there may be restrictions in starting them all.

EFA.

Allegedly the back row will be a big name (we were aiming for Vito, that's the level of pay cheque available). No problems if the IRFU wants to limit us to 5 starting, that's only sensible, but I still don't understand why the IRFU have decided a 30 year old South African back three player in a year beats pushing more development time to Scholes, Gilroy, Stockdale and Nelson.

Now I'm not saying I'm right or wrong. Ulster have got special allowances before. But reason I left out Piutau is I still question will he come. Is this allowance a softener for than. IF IRFU want cash and Wasps offer a lot to keep him will they say yes. Also you say ye were aiming for Vito but fact is he never came. We don't know level of wage Ulster are aiming for. Did they think maybe Vito would come cheaper?
My point on starters is we have Sean Doyle who was a natural 7. We couldn't play him in our squad if JOD, TOD, Dave OC or Buckley were fit.

Piutau has a contract with Ulster and until we hear otherwise, he's an Ulster player.

The rumour is Vito said yes then changed his mind. If correct, money was not the issue.

Any more info on that, or who it might be?

Nope, just people referring to him as our "new American fan".
Don't think it's anyone big or famous. BK lives in America now so probably just some business acquaintance who played rugby at 'college' or something.

Healy --> Worcester is doing the rounds... Dunno what I think of it other than it's be a total **** up career wise if Healy took it.

Cian or Matt? I presume you mean Cian, but it's so ludicrously unlikely I need to be sure.

Yeah.

Independent of anything else, it would be funny as all hell if the IRFU called his bluff and he rocked up at Wuss next season.
I don't know what the place is like but him exiting his black tinted range river, pug dog in hand with his beats draped around his neck and ray ban's on seems like it's be more out of place there than in Dublin.

Is a guy with the sub heading "Part time DJ and painter" on his Wikipedia article (which looks like he wrote it by the way) going to fit in anywhere outside of south Dublin? Doubt it.

Johan Goosen to Munster doing the rounds

Very likely. His demands are well in our budget it seems. I think it hinges on getting seal of approval from IRFU. Also we are trying to move Tyler on although there's strong interest from 3 AP clubs for Keatley. So we may let him go early although it's not what we want to do.

Why are they trying to move Tyler on? Waste of money?

No just not getting value for money and has few injury issues. As I said alot is up in air but with Scannell really coming through we can't have 2 NIQ guys. If we keep Tyler it'll be simply by IRFU saying he'd be IQ in 12 months so we I'll give dispensation like Ulster got with Ludik. Although difference here is Tyler's deal won't be up
