Transfers rumours

What? There is no suggestion Louw is going back to SA - he and his wife live in Bath, pretty sure she is going to university there.

He's injured and it's possible that Armitage could be brought in as injury cover.

Josh Ovens left the club ageees ago - he had a long term back injury.

I must be honest I dont know if I like this, I bet he comes over just to play in the RWC then ****s off again.

Why would that matter though?
I don't think there's anything wrong with it; he wants to play for England, which is fair enough. But he wants to play domestic rugby in france, also fair enough. He's just doing what he needs to do to reconcile those two things. The no overseas players rule exists to generally discourage an exodus of talent overseas, not to punish those who have already gone.

The issue is that it appears he may just want to play in a RWC - he isn't that bothered who he plays for.

If he just comes back for one year then picking him sets a precedent that allows players to leave the premiership, then return for a year when they want to play in big tournaments.
Which compromises the intended effect of the foreign based players rules.

I bet Matt Kvesic doesn't agree with you.

Also on the Louw back to SA, a few Saffers said that he would've been considered captain if he was playing domestically. It could be a reason to move back if true.

he isn't good enough to play for england... I really really hope he doesn't make the EPS if he comes back.

Yup, that's how ti feels.

Looks like the Olympic transfer thing has fallen through so he wants to come home... it was only a month ago he was training with France.

If he comes back, it will be very interesting to see how well he performs for Bath - given that we already have Flouw's benchmark in what was a weaker Bath team for the past two seasons.

Very happy to see Roberts and Lydiate going back home, important for Welsh rugby.

Matt Kvesic's goal should be to be selected above Armitage by virtue of being a better player than Armitage, and not because Armitage has been playing abroad and is therefore out of the running.

Deadlock for now in Armitage to Bath deal. Sticking points: RFU refusal to contribute £, Toulon jumpy due to Gorgodze/JSmith injuries.

Clock is ticking on Armitage move. Believe the deal needs to be done by 1pm. But these things have a life of their own!

Good on the RFU

Good to hear that the rfu are refusing to contribute. We don't have central contracts so they shouldn't be expected to, if bath want him then they should stump up the cash.

Ok... to summarise:

Steffon Armitage: Toulon --> Bath/Saracens

Yannick Nyanga: Toulouse --> Racing Metro

Dan Carter: Crusaders --> Racing Metro

Thierry Dusautoir: Toulouse --> Bath/Liecester/London Irish/Saracens

Patricio Albacete: Toulouse --> Bath/Liecester/London Irish/Saracens

Albacete and Dusautoir apparently want to continue playing together, so they will probably end up at the same place.

I really hope Bath don't become "that club".

that Albacete & Dusautoir point is rather strange....

agreed.

If the RFU pay for him he should be forced to play a week at each club in the premiership on rotation whether he wants to or not :)

The pair have deals with Racing Metro until the end of next season but the French Top 14 club's coach Laurent Labit has revealed the Paris outfit have already made plans to release them.
"We have already discussed the issue with them – they have never really been performing since their arrival," claimed the former flanker in the French press.
And that led Roberts to this morning tell Sky Sports News: "If they feel they don't want me here c'est la vie. Hopefully another club will have me."

So far Leicester have had linked to:

Fonua (apparently a done deal)
Nyanga
Albacete
Dusautoir

We could well be in need of a lock with Deacon and Parling's future uncertain.

Then there is rumours that Matera will be off to the argentine super team.

I would have thought Matera will be off - he'd be enormous for their SR team.

Albacete and Dusautoir wouldn't be a bad pair for Quins - clearly not going to happen though.

I mean if Parling and Deacon do say retire due to injuries I could see Tigers going for Dusautoir and Albacete if the price was right, although Kitchener and slater will be starters next season regardless IMO.

Although who to start out of Salvi or Dusautoir who be a big question Salvi is 2/3 years younger.

Croft I think is on his final year (I think) and with his injury problem he may want to look at France for some money before it could be to late hope not but it is a possibility I feel that could well happen. (P.S. That isn't a rumour just my 2 cents).

and if that happened I guess if Leicester could get somehow either of Dusautoir or Nyanga then itr would loo

6) Dusautoir or Nyanga
7) Salvi
8) Pearce/Founa

But that is purely speculation and if and buts.

There seems to be an awful lot of media hype around today without much concrete evidence, hardly any mention in France by the rugby media about all these would be would not be transfers. Nyanga has been linked to Racing but nothing solid at the moment, as for the Roberts Lydiate have done nothing exceptional since their arrival so will hardly be missed, Sexton well he's a done deal, as for the French boys at Toulouse could be James Bond mission to infiltrate the England camp on a spying mission for PSA before the WC as he will need all the help he can get from any and every source.

Just posted on Rugbyrame that Jackie Lorenzetti (President Racing) has denied all knowledge of tranfer rumours for Roberts and Lydiate, he also says that no one had been in contact with the club, but he is possibly also trying to get his own little media hype on the bandwagon, as he denied all knowledge of the Sex Ton affair but it went ahead even though he knew nothing ( of course you are only the President Jackie)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
