Transfers rumours

The Rugby Paper and Rugby-Transferts saying that Halfpenny has decided to go to France with Clermont and Toulon prepared to offer 600k euro pa.....................the same figure that Afoa is to earn at Gloucester according to the NZ Sunday Star-Times!

It would be strange if Lee went to Toulon given the comments Mouro has made regarding the non-hiring of Warburton.

"Sam Warburton is the captain of Wales, so that means we will not have him during international matches. I told myself that one year from the World Cup, the priority of Sam Warburton would be the World Cup and not the Top 14."

I hope he ends up at Clermont with JD; I think the WRU have probably advised players to go to Clermont as they are perceived to be the most professional French club.
And I hope that Warburton ends up in the Premiership - I think they are more likely to be sympathetic to his fitness over here.

CJ Stander (Munster) --> London Irish

Stander has just been dropped to Minsters B&I cup squad so I guess that makes sense.

As for Warbs. Planet Rugby had Northampton down as a possible destination. Makes sense I guess considering North is there. Also, Dickinson and Warburton in the same back row rounds nice.

Not sure theres a problem with Stander. He just needs to improve some areas of his game. He wasn't dropped really, its more a case of O'Donnell coming back in after injury.

Toulouse upped their offer for Heaslip to 750k pa

Stephen Brett - Bayonne ----> Gloucester
Santiago Fernandez - Bayonne ----> Gloucester
Henry Thomas - Sale ----> Bath

I wish Stander would just come back to the Bulls, I rated him very highly before he left.

RMC Sport and L'Equipe reporting that Toby Flood has been emailing his team mates to say that he has signed for Stade Toulousain!!

As Toulon were hot favourites.................does this mean that JW has decided to continue to play?

Pretty sure Wilko is staying on.

Also not so sure why Wasps want Priestland.

If I were looking for a FH I'd be trying to nab Heathcote.

Not sure how beneficial moving back to Bath will be for Thomas?
We have a lot of really good props already.

You'd want him?

Re: Thomas/Gaskell - sad story if true, and seems to me both would have to give up game time.

Ulster being linked with a Sharks back-row and second row.

I'd like Priestland for my club, yep - that's not to say I think of him as a world class player as Jeremy Guscott seems to.
If this season is anything to go by than Andy Goode could be declining rapidly, whislt Joe carlisle has never looked the part and looks as if he'll go his whole career being a player who 'has potential'. He's only really starred in amlin games against mediocre/poor opposition. Baby Bell looks set to be preferred as a full-back if he stays at all - and the rumous are that he's not staying.

Priestland has his frailities but I think he can run a back-line of a certain type - I think players like Daly and Wade can bring the ebst out of him. In fact providing the price tag isnt' too high, I'm not sure why any prem club woudl turn him down, be it as a 1st or second choice?

Agree about Gaskell - I don't want him but apparently Dai is interested. Our back-row is the best thing about us atm - seems a bit silly. I'd rather sign a genuinely quality inside centre.
