What's always impressed me about Thomas is how quickly he has returned to form after each horrific career threatening injury. For me that shows that he's a naturally talented player who doesn't require lads of time to re-hone his skills unlike some players. This often translates into a player that can read the game well, and play what's in front of him instead of simply doing what he's been told on the training pitch, and I think that's often apparent in the way Thomas plays.
He's far from the finished article, and that's mainly due to his stop-start career up until now. If he can keep fit, then I think Gloucester could get the best out of him. Thomas is taking a big risk moving out of Wales though, because he could get completely forgotten about no matter how well he plays, in the same way Nicky Robinson was. If he wanted a change, I'm sure there were opportunities available at other regions, especially the Ospreys.
