Top 5 Games of All Time

no particular order, because all so different:

1 - Doom 2
2 - Age of Kings (AOE II)/Warcraft II III
3 - Quake 3 Arena
4 - Crash Bandicoot 1-2-3
5 - Mario Bros series (real platform series, none of that extra-curricular bs).

EDIT: OMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGI actually forgot the Mortal Kombat series. UMK3 being the best one...

Gonna cheat like others and put series together:

1. Dungeon Keepers (1 + 2): Wish Bullfrog still existed...
5. Total War (Medieval and Rome)

Also:
Red Alert (1 and 2)
Theme Hospital
Age of Empires 2/Age of Mythology

Spent half my growing up life playing these games! Dungeon keeper was so so addictive.

For me:

1. Civilization IV
2. Dungeon Keeper Gold
3. Championship manager (01/02) or any football manager since 2009
4. Total war (Rome, medieval 2) can NOT wait until Rome 2 is out!
5. Pokemon red/blue

Some honorable mentions:

Rugby manager 2004
Full ace Tennis simulator
Dark Omen
Mount and Blade - Warband
Age of Empires 2
Cossacks
Theme Hospital

So many more, but must stop!

J'nuh, I just played them. Asteroids isn't the same without wireframe graphics ;) (and my right hand was winning 21-5 against my left hand in Pong, before I realised there was no 'winning score' :p)

For 200lines of code (approx), times sure have changed.
Back when I was learning to program on my first pc, 200 lines would be enough to make the tv go 'beep beep' ;)

Apologies to all for the overuse of emoticons.

1 - GTA San Andreas - It was better than GTA IV because it was a bit more fun and the map had more variety.
2 - Red Dead Redemption - It felt like you went on a journey. The game itself was superb and the storyline was probably my all time fav in a game.
3 - Lost Planet multiplayer - I spent many hours playing the multiplayer. Loved the maps and the pace of the game. The single player wasn't anything special IMO and the sequels have not been over complicated.
4 - Fallout 3 - Its an exploration game that you never know whats around the next corner. I loved how you had to work your way into the city and you could pick factions to work for.
5 - Battlefield 3 - Its a superb game that kicks COD's ass.

Other top games that I can think of at this time: Jak and Daxter series, Settlers 7, Minecraft, COD World at War, Super Mario 64, Sonic and dozens more I'm forgetting...

EDIT: OMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGI actually forgot the Mortal Kombat series. UMK3 being the best one...

I recently got Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition on the PS3 (basically so that my Fiancee have something to play on the PS3 when she's bored).

Before this one, UMK3 was my favourite, but I have to say this Komplete Edition one is the Best. With Freddy Kruger and Kratos as special characters to fight with + the awesome X-ray attacks. It's quite fun... And You can have the characters wear their MK1 costumes.

Probably not best 5 but for the shear hours I got out of them and in no particular order; Mortal Kombat 2, Tekken tag, Soul Caliber, Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Fallout 2 oh, and Diablo 2. Oh, I forgot I was an avid DotA player so put WC3 on there as well.. Baldur's gate in it's day though it has no replay value, Final Fantasy... okay, lets make it ten and end with GTA.

In no specific order: Tekken 1, Mortal kombat 3, Metal Slug 1, Die hard Arcade, killer instinct

Haha I never played the first one. My cousin had the second so I went straight into that. If it's better it must be pretty damn good! I had loads of fun on the second.

Just had a look at the series and there was a third in the making but it was cancelled :(

Find it, get it, play it. Its soo worth it, (£6.99 on Steam now, dunno what thats in Euros, probably similar)

The 2nd KOTOR had the potential to be much better than the first but was rushed horribly by Lucasarts, lot's of sidequests got cancelled, plot lines weren't wrapped up or explained properly. I like the first one better but the 2nd had a few good thigns about it, it just didn't get to it's full potential.

Cool I probably will and yea pretty similar but hey i'd spend that on a meal so no biggie. Thanks for the recommendation :)

According my interest and view which are most interesting games are :

Command and Conquer Red Alert
Fifa (mostly 09 and 12)
Final Fantasy 7
Red dead Redemption
Snake II

These top 5 games are my favorite games.

Hell yea I remember Repton. Frak!, Boffin, Daredevil Dennis, Castle Quest to name a few. In fact have all of these on an emulator and they are so nostalgic and bring back such fond memories.

Good to see someone in the same era as me :p I remember long time ago buying a BBC magazine that I can't remember the name of and in the back few pages was a ****LOAD of code to create a grainy Dark Crystal character image (similar to ascII art) which took me a very long time but worth it at that time :p

I use MAME for my arcade fix along.

I strongly recommend you try out the free open source OOlite though Rich. It has updated, decent graphics but the plus point is it has hundreds and hundreds of user made add ons. It's exactly how you will have wanted to play Elite, even tie fighters and millennium falcons there to buy. It makes the trading side much more complex and with wars in areas inc/dec needed items. The add ons are amazing, people have thought of everything, literally!

Oh well, I might as well show my age then

In no particular order:

Rally Masters: Race of Champions
Crusader: No Remorse
Wing Commander Prophecy
F22 Air Dominance Fighter
Need For Speed: Porsche 2000 (In particular the Factory Driver Mode was a lot of fun)

(NOTE: All of these were for the PC. I have never owned or used a game console)

I thought this was actual Rugby games.

I put the toys down a long time ago as I was really only good at physical activities.

My top 5 games and this will be the last time I post on the toys thread.

1. Street Fighter 2
2. Double Dragon
3. Alex The Kidd
4. Shinobi
5. Golden Axe

This has brought back the memories :)

p.s: I could clock games 1, 3 & 5.

PacMan (love the reason it was called 'pacman' instead of 'pucman(the original name)' due to the ease of abuse of the first letter on arcade machines)
Did you know that the original name for Pac-Man was Puck-Man? You'd think it was because he looks like a hockey puck but it actually comes from the Japanese phrase 'Paku-Paku,' which means to flap one's mouth open and closed. They changed it because they thought Puck-Man would be too easy to vandalize, you know, like people could just scratch off the P and turn it into an F or whatever... Yeah...
