Thread here for the friendly match to be played between the Tongan National Team and Elite Cup Champions San Francisco Golden Gate Rugby (abbreviated SFGG). SFGG pulled out of the National Club Division 1 playoffs a month ago in order to be available for this match. But they did win the Elite Cup last night, the top club competition that took the top 8 teams in the country playing over the spring. SFGG has a lot of Pacific Islanders in their side and is a big area for them. Tickets are $15 plus tax for general, $75 plus tax for VIP. As lineups are announced I'll edit this post.

The Tonga National Team, nicknamed ʻIkale Tahi (Sea Eagles), will be playing SFGG on June 1 in San Francisco, before taking on Canada and USA national sides. SFGG is honored to compete in this Invitation Match with Tonga this summer, and is expecting an exciting and successful event.

Sounds like they have hired a commentator of the pronounciation skills of the Canada Georgia stream last year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp1kiNXLr2A

Fatty Moa walks through early easily ... this could be a thrashing.

Edit: ... and another for the right winger, easy for Tonga. 12-0 - 7 minutes.

While it is a top 3 USA club team, this is Tonga, a team that beat Scotland last season and 11th in the world, 5 spots ahead of the US. Just a fun game I guess, I don't know what Tonga were looking at this game for. Maybe they couldn't find any good opposition.
