Right got the game, enjoying it :) not the best thing I have ever player, but enjoyable and an improvement on 08
One question though, I swear I remember reading that you can play music that's on your Hard-drive instead of just having World in Union looping over and over again (getting slightly annoying now :p) anyone know how?
Also achievements are very very easy, only played one match so far (won on 19 - 10 medium Wales vs Argentina) and managed to get 6 (Score a Try, Score a Kick, Score in one phase, punt for 50m+ gain, steal a line-out and sell a dummy), not bad for 10mins of play :p

Go for it. Are you using side/behind cam? If behind, any problems finding your FB in relation to defending. Reckon I read somewhere that you can't find/see your FB..and when you eventualy can....it's too late to get him to tackle ball carrier on way to the line.

Yep ... the End to End is to close in my opinion.

I've played one game online (me as Wales vs someone as NZ) and was my first game using behind cam, conceded 2 tries straight away because I found it awkward defending with the FB and went 10 - 0 within 8mins, I had to switch to side cam after that. Seemed to help me string a few phases of possession together too, and managed to claw my way back to go ahead 15 - 10 when he quit on me (tbf, the game was laggy as hell due to my shoddy connection, so don't really blame him). Might stick to side cam for now, though with more practice probably could get behind came to work better.

Hmmmn....no defending fullback....so it will be like playing as Italy!!. No worries, us gamers are resourceful people...I think the phrase needed here is "playing to the games nuances". (Tongue firmly placed in cheek)!!!!

How did you get the game? I'm assuming you live in Wales.

Game have told me that they will not sell it to me because it doesn't come out until tomorrow, even though it's on the shelves.

Yeah I do, pre-ordered from Game a while back, so they were nice enough to give it to me a day early :D

Yep, GAME pre-orders (online) have been arriving at doorsteps throughout the UK, including my own.

So hopefully my preordered game will be on the doormat when I get home tomorrow. (Fingers crossed).

Was hoping to rent this first to see if it's worth the money. Just phoned my local Blockbuster and they have 3 copies there not reserved. I live in Wales FFS there's high demand here! I'll have to be there bright and early to make sure I get my copy.

Another Damning Review :/

4.5/10

And this one is alot better written and well reasoned then the IGN one.

With yet another inference to buy the much flashier Rugby Challenge at the end.

I've played a lot of Rugby Challenge today, with teams, graphics and features I love so much more than anything RWC remotely has to offer and as a bonus some of the most desperately in need of tweaking game-play since Rugby '04.

Honestly, with the right patches it'll blow RWC 2011 out of the water. Right now, it doesn't, each game is good at different things. It's not terrible, it's quite good in a lot of ways, but it's features and beauty are the main things making me like it right now.

My initial impression of how it plays is almost bi-polar, sometimes absolutely brilliant, but sometimes fairly dire. That's not to say RWC is anything revolutionary. It's a bug-fixed and tweaked (in some ways) '08, most of the time with poor likenesses and a sparse set of features. It desperately should've had custom tournament feature. If they patched one in it'd help. A lot.

I need to be fair to both games and play them a lot more yet though. Rugby Challenge is said to take a long time to get to grips with. I hope that's the case. :)

After extensively playing the game - online and off - my own expectations have been blown. RWC, regardless of how similar it is to 08, is still an absolute blast to play. It may look last gen, play like last gen but I would be lying if I said it wasn't heaps of fun to play. Especially with mates!

That extensive play through didn't take long did it? 4pm on launch day.

Ah the beauty of the internet and it's bullshit.

Who to trust and who to not.

Think I will hold off, the RC moans seem to skilled based something I can deal with.

Poor Poor Game! both IGN and gamespot agree

the reviews are out. Both IGN and gamespot (which are very reputable reviewers) have given the game 5/10 and 4.5/10 respectively. I agree with them. Having just played it, this it is a poor game.

I am not a hater, I am a rugby player and an avid sports gamer. I know the restictions HB studio have and how difficult it is. BUT we pay $100 for a broken game. I am sick and tired of people on here trying to defend the game with blind loyalty. I want MORE THAN ANYTHING for a FIFA equivalent of rugby! I think that every god damn time I stick FIFA into the friggen console.

But I think some of the people on this forum want it so badly that they are willing to overlook just how shite this game actually is. You only have to compare this game to FIFA world cup 2010 to compare the efforts. Even rugby 08 is better than this game. Just read the reviews. You can't say a 4.5/10 game is good. I'm sorry but I'm fed up and I expect better. After 4 years of looking at HB's website saying that the next generation of rugby games are coming only to see the players backs because the models are so crap.

All I can hope for is that rugby challenge fits the bill. But even if its gameplay isnt up to scratch either at least there is a longevity about the game with editors, multiple modes and 96 teams. RWC11 doesn't even have that to save it. If not the wait continues. Seriously HB this just isn't good enough. I fully expect some people to come on here and have a go at me, but I dont give a f**k. I know my games and I know my rugby even better. And this game is crap.

On a postive note, can't wait for tonights game at suncorp. Should be an absolute belter in the Brisbane wet. Looking for the all blacks to be as tough and menacing as ever. To have a game of this magnitude 3 weeks out from a world cup as awesome. GO WALLABIES!

Sorry you feel this way. Bought the game yesterday and played with some mates and it is fantastic. Also played an online game and don't know who the opposition was but it was great kicking ass! I find that playing it in End On camera (Pref angle) view is a helluva lot beter than Side Cam especially when you playing with or against a mate. It is particularly good playing in a team. You can run great angles. The game is less arcady than Rugby 08, try mixing your play up a little. Play it as you would a real game and you will find great pleasure in it. If you want just swing it left and right this game is not for you!

Yes, everything is pointing towards Rugby Challenge being better but isn't it great that we have two games to play with for a while.

At the end of the day, i don't think RWC11 is or was ever going to deliver on the hype that a gaming community that's waited 4 years would expect. It's that way because it's a tiny gaming market, so we just have to deal with it.

I enjoy the game. Just because it hasn't got great reviews, doesn't mean it's a bad game. After all, have you ever seen a review by a rugby fan on one of those places? They don't have a clue usually.

I agree, the longetivity is not going to lasting. The game could be polished more. It could have more features, and has a few bugs, but i hear this about nearly all sports games i play. Fifa 12 will get bagged for the same thing i'd expect.

I would say that i'm disappointed there are less camera options than in 08, so i'm struggling a bit online, and of course the player editor is missing (for skintone, create a player etc) but overall, i'd give RWC11 a 7/10.

You can see they have tried in places, and done what they could do on a budget in others. I'm sure this game will be a hit, just not amongst rugby gaming fans, as we do kind of feel it's a bit of a re-hashed cash-in to be fair. But, i'm not going to diss a game because i've found fault with it. Games cost £40 mostly, and i'm sure RC will be more expensive than that, and i'm hearing that's not the godlike gaming experience we've been bludgeoned by RC fanboys with for the last 6 weeks.

Take this game for what it's worth. It's a fun knock around game, for a tournament, and i'll enjoy it. The game isn't easy now either, so that's good. I just don't get gamers who buy a game, and see it as a personal insult when they take the day off work (i mean, seriously wtf) and spend all day playing it to collect the achievements and complete it, and then complain it hasn't lasted long enough, when they've spent 18 hours on it that day. It's like eating too many sweets and then saying sweets are **** because you've got stomach ache.

So, i'm going to ignore all the overly negative comments pass and let the game impress me and play it casually with people who appreciate this game is fun, and it's a decent rugby game.
