The Movie Thread

Finally got round to watching Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

It's pretty much what I expected. A completely too long and unnecessary sequel that didn't go anywhere with cartoonish characters. Not sure what they expected when they were making this. Also, damn was it obvious Spielberg wasn't directing this. Eek!

I thought it was better than the Crystal Skull, but still no where near as good as the first 3. One of those really should have ended it on the TLC. But they couldn't help cashing in just like Toy Story and Matrix.

Interesting you went with Toy Story, I'd say they were all pretty good movies.

Cough, StarWars, cough….

I've not seen the last 30mins (was on plane flight wasn't on my connecting flight) I enjoyed it well enough.

However Temple of Doom is rubbish.

I enjoyed it as a child at the cinema but it hasn't aged well and is now fairly unwatchable.
Unfortunately the overt racism of it (its interesting Octopussy came out at a similar time) is pretty much in the "I can't believe Spielberg directed this" category.

Apart from that its just not as good as Lost Ark or Crusade by any stretch.

I think they've said something like Spielberg was going through a messy time in his life so wasn't really "with it". We all know George Lucas without someone watching over him 😅

should ended on 3 IMO. I didn't enjoy 4. And 5 is coming out next year.

Hahaha, yes. another franchise. If you're old school then the middle 3 will forever be the best. Actually Revenge of the Sith I enjoyed as it added to that whole Darth Vader/Anakin back story.

If you're old school you never, NEVER, refer to them as "the middle 3"

Star Wars has long been a mixed bag with holiday special, Droid and Ewok cartoons and Ewok movies. The EU books varied massively in quality to. Video games varied between trash and crap too.

Disney takeover kinda saturated the market Episode 9 kinda killed theatrically. They tried to do too much too quickly.

I think why Andor is best thing they've produced is creators have been given time to develop what they were doing other than MORE CONTENT but they were launching a streaming service and Star Wars was their main marketing POV

I still think its been a mixed bag Andor being the high point and Boba Fett until it was Mando Season 2.5 the worst.

Cartoons are good but not for me.

I think the main issue was learning Marvel was a 10 year flash in the pan.

Haha, You know what I mean.

Take Cobra Kai - really stayed true to the original Karate Kid first 3 (don't really count the 4th one with Swank) so it appealed to a new audience whilst also appealing to the original fans. To me it got it right. But then that was a tv series and not another 2 hour movie (s). Hollywood have lost sight that it's about story and character arcs, when it goes beyond its original trilogy. That's why fans go mad when they get it so wrong and feel so entitled - cough - GOT- cough.
