The Movie Thread

After the Last of us I think video games are better as tv series.
100% was going to say similar. I also think something like Zelda without strong plot will struggle outside of long running cartoon.
Be interesting to see how they go. Final Fantasy tried an original story that wasn't great. The went with FF7 post story which was alright, but again didn't really live up to the hype of the games.
Point of order as I'm aware massive nerd FF7: Advent Children wasn't theatrically released at first and was a direct to video release.

I was reffering to Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within which was a completely original story and also the first real film to attempt photorealism in CGI. It was fine...

My concern about a live action Zelda movie is Link has always been silent in the games.

I'd rather have some animation movies for Zelda, based on the games.

Either way it'll need to have a really strong story as I don't think it could go the way of the Mario movie.

Unless they try and mirror their next game in the series with the movie.

I'm not sure they understand the risks if they raise prices for music and tv again. There's too many of them already and I suspect they've pretty much hit the ceiling in terms of growth. Asking for more will probably just lose them subscribers. It always was madness to me tbh.

I'm not sure the industry understand inflation V wage stagnation. The initial boom is over and people need to select what they are subscribed to.

No, they really don't understand it. I wouldn't be surprised if many just jump in and out soon. There's little need to keep it all year round as it is.

I thought Fallout was very good - I'm not overly attached to the games, though (played a couple but they're far from my favourites list) so not emotionally invested in comparisons etc

Excited by this. Zelda is far and away my favourite gaming franchise ever. Tons of great storyline they can use.
currently playing Wind Waker as i never did back in the day, so fun

a studio ghibi style would be kind of cool

my biggest concern is the defining feature for zelda games in my mind is the element based dungeons, at least 3 (fire, water forest) but often more.....and one movie doesnt do them justice....maybe 20 min each or something if we need world building at the start and then a climax at the end....but a 3-6 movie franchise probably wont work....a limited series 5-6 hours long episodes

the do need to have the courage for him not to speak...as soon as he speaks all the zelda fans are going to be "thats not my Link"

i watched this the other week and not a bad break down of existing story options

I think that's down to some of them basically trying to be films and not games. 😅
I remember seeing a video where a dad who used to play games tried uncharted and was questioning when the game would actually just let you play. Saw another video where a older gamer was trying kill the character and it was that safe in the gameplay, he really struggled. Both naughty dog games.
