The Movie Thread

I understood it like that: the main idea is the "crime" when someone gives you a hope and then "takes it back" , and I was watching it from this perspective.Very bitter feeling, especially in the end. But yes, in general it's close to your description. Agree with "Pretty woman", must say that I prefer realistic movies like "Anora" much more than romantic "Pretty woman" though

so, after the unfortunate passing of Gene Hackman...they happened to be showing Crimson Tide last night and with Mrs Womble away with work i had to watch, **** thats a good film and he was a great actor, if you havent seen it in a while i recommend taking the time

Currently on Disney+

And a **** load more on Amazon prime, including one of my favourite films: A Bridge Too Far

Does seem weird that Brody won when they said they used AI to improve his accent/pronunciation

Surely that falls under the realms of acting and should disqualify him?

It's a complicated decision the academy wouldn't acknowledge Serkis work on LOTR because it had enhanced so much by CGI.

This said post production enhancements have always happened ADR for example is extremely old. At what point is the performance diluted too much? Brody is definitely on screen and I wouldn't know if he spoke crap or great Hungarian so it only benefits those who know.

I'd also need to know how diffrent it was from the performance given. I argue it doesn't really enhance his performance if use tweak but if replace thats another matter. My understand is both he and Felicty still had dialect coaches and it wasn't like they spoke in thier normal tongues.

Good interview where Corbet addresses it

Also be very wary of anything like this for Oscar nominees the controversy war often trashing opponents through the press and social media is sadly part studio's publicity budget. So something like this is likely because a studio is paying to over promote it.

Unless your name is Karla Sofía Gascón

Still in a bit of a shock Anora won as much as it did (I need to finenout if its the firstbtike a single indivdual has won Screenplay, Editing and Directio). An independent R rated film about a sex worker this stuff "never" wins and academy usually goes for more middle of the road "safe" movies.
