What's with Cleary being on the bench? Thought there was a big noise about him.

Also, how many guys is that Leinster team missing cos of the habit of not playing guys who went to last year's JWC?

Yeah I'm pretty surprised about Cleary being on the bench as well. I have a feeling he was injured because there was something about how Brewer wouldn't have been in the squaad otherwise. If he isn't starting because of merit well the centres are certainly a talented position for us.

We're missing Ringrose, Heffernan, Fitzpatrick, McCarthy and Byrne

Fitzpatrick? Winger? Don't suppose you know much about the Fitzpatrick propping for Ulster u20s now I'm thinking about it?

Also shouldn't Dardis be on that list?

Yeah winger got in the academy somehow.

Dane Fitzpatrick played for Blackrock last year as well as for Leinster u19's against Australia u19's. I scrummaged against him once but I'd had the flu for a week and had to go off after 20 so it wasn't pretty. He may be slightly undersized for prop at the moment but he's relatively mobile and a solid player. I doubt he's ever gonna be a superstar but could develop into a useful player. However he did play loosehead all last year so not sure how he'll got at tighthead. He is originally from up north I believe.

Yeah Dardis completely slipped my mind.

Can't recall being impressed by him but then ****-poor Ulster representation meant I watched very little Ireland U20s.

I'm puzzled as to why Lagan and Fitzpatrick have swapped sides from their school positions; maybe a misprint.

And this would be a horrifically strong Leinster team if it could put out the full whack of guys. Hearing a lot of excitement about this Ulster team as well. Could be a strong year for Ireland U20.

A lot of u19's in that Ulster backline as well. Competition for places particulary in the backs is going to be fierce. I am a bit worried about the pack though. This is considered one of the strongest Leinster age groups to come through.

Arnold, Stockdale...?

The pack always seems to be the worry with Ireland U20s and you usually seem to do ok.

Yeah on second look I seem to have exaggerated somewhat on the amount of u19's with Ulster.

In fairness yeah Ruddock seem to do a good job with the pack and there is a lot of individual talent in it. There's just some nagging feeling that I have about it. It's mostly to do with the scrum. Heffernan and Loughman are both pretty much converted tightheads in fact Loughman was originally an 8. Heffernan got shown up a few times last year and Loughman's technique is somewhat underdeveloped. I'd say Loughman in particular has mainly gotten by through being a genetic freak and therefore generally being bigger and stronger than his opposition. Of course that's not to say they won't make vast improvements by the 6N or JWRC.

Leinster u20 won 32-20 having lead 29-3 with just 20 minutes remaining.

Something to note is the number of players involved who came through the clubs ranks. Conor O'Brien, Rob Vallejo, Joey Carbery, Fergal Cleary, Jack McKenna, Jeremy Loughman, David O'Connor and Conor Oliver were all developed outside the schools game. If the club game can gain parity with the schools setups in terms of skill levels, it'll prove very exciting for Leinster's player base.

Interesting enough article on Madigan and 2nd 5/8ths.

Ben Te'o playing pretty well in his return from suspension in the Rabbitoh's semi-final against the Roosters.
Just bagged himself a try.

SO'B out for 5-6 months. ****. ****, ****, **** **** ****edy ****.

Big loss. He's really kicked on past 18 months or so into one of the most consistent back rowers of the NH. His quality is irreplaceable now.

He's barely played in last 18 months. He is top class but it's stinking of Leamy-esque career. Was awesome when fully fit but only spent around 2 seasons of his career at full fitness.
