Starting for the Ospreys tomorrow at 12.
Been playing for Swansea RFC for the past few weeks.

Yup, Googled informed me of same

I heard he had a fall-out with the Blue Bulls management - behavioural and/or attitude - no idea whether it is true or false

Didn't know about the fallout.
Looking forward to seeing him play this weekend.

I also had high hopes for Watermeyer and was surprised when I heard he was leaving. That being said, I think Francois Venter is much more dangerous and with Sadie there and William Small- Smith, he probably thought he was out of favour.

Bulls have quite an exiting backline, but IF WE CAN JUST GET A FARKIN FULLBACK.

Don't forget Jan Serfontein in a few seasons. Not a bad centre from what I gather.
No Paul Jordaan, but who is? :p

That wasn't the only reason for him leaving... In 3 years he will be eligible to play for Wales if he wanted to due to his grandmother being welsh... Maybe he saw that with Juan de Jongh and the Ebersohn twins, he wouldn't stand a chance at playing for the boks... who knows...

Considering that you are talking about the Bulls, shouldn't it be 'up-and-unders'? :p

So, going by this team:

Bulls: 15 Zane Kirchner, 14 Akona Ndungane, 13 Johann Sadie, 12 Francois Venter, 11 Bjorn Basson, 10 Morné Steyn, 9 Francois Hougaard, 8 CJ Stander, 7 Dewald Potgieter, 6 Deon Stegmann, 5 Juandré Kruger, 4 Flip van der Merwe, 3 Werner Kruger, 2 Chiliboy Ralepelle (captain), 1 Dean Greyling.
Substitutes: 16 Willie Wepener, 17 Frik Kirsten, 18 Wilhelm Steenkamp, 19 Arno Botha, 20 Jano Vermaak, 21 Louis Fouché, 22 JJ Engelbrecht.

Can we confidently say what the Bulls team will be? Might be some tinkerings though.

Decent enough side that, however I would have JJ ahead of Akona. No one else better than Kirchner?

There will definitely be some tinkerings... And With Pierre Spies and Wynand Olivier recovering from injury will also help.

as for Zane Kirchner, at the moment, we don't have anyone better, unless Jaco van Der Westhuysen decides to make another dramatic comeback. there are some young guys coming through, but they are not there yet...

What I like about this team is the centre pairing of Venter and Sadie... Future Springbok pair IMO. 11 Springboks in that team... Wow.

Forgot Spies existed

How long will he and Meisiekind be out for?

Well according to what I read a few weeks ago on Sport24, they are just nursing the injuries now, and will be ready when the tournament starts. So I think they are just keeping the Captain and Vice-captain in cotton wool for now until the tournament starts so that their leaders will be involved more.

:s

Shows how out of touch I am, phew, was thinking for a few minutes that the Bulls were in with a chance of winning a couple of games there

Still a mystery how Meisiekind can perform at SR level but plays like a thin prop at international level :?

Pitty that the Bulls leadership have not been playing great rugby and holding back brilliant younger players.
They both have done it before, but will they lift their gameplay and play to their abilities, especially Spies.
Francois Venter and CJ Stander is class and they will push very hard for starting positions this season.

Meisiekind got a new hair conditioner sponsor, maybe just what he needed..

The Bulls will probably look to keep Kirschner around simply because he is experienced (something they are very deprived of at the moment) and has been *gulp* going okayish in the last few games for them (CC).

That said, i'm still surprised they didn't sign Riaan Viljoen when he was looking to move or look to have signed a young guy in Rudi Vogt to take over from Kirschner next year or 2014.

Look, I'll be the first one to agree that Kirchner is not a top-quality full back and that we can do much better, yes... but the Bulls never struggled in getting good guys in the fullback position, somehow, i think they have a trick up their sleeve somewhere which everyone hasn't thought about. Maybe Jurgen Visser picked up a couple of kg's in the off season and stun us all...

but what I'm personally wishing for is that when the Lions are declared bankrupt and in deep **** like it seems, in trying to get some money in, that the Bulls buy Jaco Taute... problem solved

I think meisiekind was quite good at s14 level the last two seasons. But Francois Venter was awesome in the CC last year and I think the Bulls will use WO to guide him and Sadie in the S15 to gain experience. I Have no doubt that this will be his last year (don't know when his contract ends) also if you take in consideration the talent in the Bulls Vodacom cup team, especially William Small-Smith.

I am 100 % with you on Spies- the most overrated palyer in SA now that Smith is gone. But I will rather replace him with Arno Botha than CJ. The problem is, if you take Spies and WO out of the team, who is your captain? Chilli perhaps? I don't doubt his ability as a hooker, but I am not so sure about his ability as a leader. Both CJ and Stander are natural leaders and captained SA School sides and SA u/21 but it would be a bold move to make one of them captain in the S15.

Fullback is deffinately our biggest problem at this stage. Kirchner is save at the back and that is that. Jurgen Visser didn't impress me at all in the CC last year and heaven know who and why they bought him from the cape. It seems that the bulls always rather went for a save fullback (Roets, Kirchner) than an attacking one.

one would have thought that with the young and exiting backs at both the S15 and Vodacom Cup teams they would get someone like Taute or Rudi Vogt as Stormer 2010 suggested. That being said, I think that Clayton Blommetjies was outstanding in the Varsity Cup against UJ and I was surprise to see the bulls got young Riaan Brits from the Cheetas. He played for SA schools last year and captained Grey and OVS craven week. I saw him in the craven week and in a game against Paul Roos and was quite impress with his play and the maturity he shown.
