Springbok Emblem RWC 2011 Jerseys

Like I said earlier, to me the design by Canterbury is the reason for me not to buy it, not the Springbok-issue

But at the end of the WC the Bok goes back on the front of the Jersey, as does the Wallaby.

As for the Protea, it seems to me to be a legacy black (Protea) vs white (Springbok) arguement where opinions are (primarily) divided along racial lines. Its an arguement the whities can never win.

That looks disgusting.

I personally LOVE IT !!!! Long live the Springboks... We are the world champs.

I'm going to buy 10.

Its the best design ever from the masters of Rugby... CCC

Presume the chest is all rubberised (like a lot of pro jerseys to aid on the ball) causing the stomach to look shiny - don't understand the white dots though!

Interesting. It almost looks like two different materials on the chest though (two long pectoral strips with a slightly different edging also present where the logo's go). Wouldn't understand why you'd need rubber on the shoulders as well... better tackling? LOL. All-in-all the whole thing is a bit contrived IMO.

And still with those dots. It's like a highly organized skin disease or they just had some sequins left over after completing Elton John's custom 'scrum' outfit and decided the Bok jersey could do with a little razzle-dazzle.

I think the rubber bit is:

Poor looking jersey anyhow

Will be interesting to see if the rubber bit rips in scraggy contact. Can imagine (hopefully!) they would have tested for things like that before though!

Does this imply that all Canterbury teams will wear this type of kit like in the last WC? I suspect it may be SA only exclusive as a World Cup Champs Ltd edition.

I would of course like the Springbok emblem on front since that's what I'm used to. But really I don't care much about it. As mentioned before it's the IRB that should fingered. The front of the jersey is hot property and I'm sure they can tolerate their logo on the sleeve instead?
All of our national teams have the Protea on the left side nowdays so it's not like rugby is being targeted. EVEN if rugby was being targeted, they can play with the jersey till the cows come home as long as they don't muddle with selection.

Has anyone tried this jersey on?

I tried two sizes at Sportamans Warehouse...It seemed to me that the top of the jersey is too narrow. Tried a medium on, and it was way too tight by my shoulders, especially under my arms. The large fitted a bit better around my upper body, but then was too lose around my stomach!

Has anyone else experienced this? I wonder if the jerseys stretch a bit, because the medium felt like it should be the right size for me, except for the tightness around my shoulders. Arg!

My guess is that the manufacturers expect most of the users of these jerseys (Argh, my spelling is failing me!) have huge bellies.
Good market research given the belly-to-chest ratio amongst most supporters ;)

Speaking of market research, the Sharks aren't selling Super Manly Size anymore, just S, M, L and XL!

I'm really not a fan of the WC South Africa shirt.

I think XL is large enough... I wear Medium anyway

it doesn't look too good. hopefully it'll look better when the players are wearing them
