Spring Tour: South Africa v England -2nd Test. (16/06/2012 15:00GMT)

Best scrum of the game and then Youngs ****s up the pickup and costs England 40 metres. Same old ****.

To be fair, it was the lack of control at the back of the scrum. Ball spilled out and Youngs did all he could to try and pick it up.

Gotta love that, Cole arguing like hell to the touch judge about the decision in the scrum, replay clearly shows he slips his bind.

**** that Rolland - Beast goes down and touches the ground, then Cole goes completely down.

Nah, Cole slipping his bind was what caused the collapse.

Whenever props go off their nut and are certain they didn't do anything wrong, they've always blatantly infringed. Just trying to pass the blame off.

over simplification. The SH teams tend to have an overall more oplen field game, but the Boks use power, the oussies use speed and the ABs can balence the best of both. In the NH, games tend to be tighter but again the sides have their trademark styles; England and Scotland rely on power, Wales and France like to chuck it about and Ireland have a balanced game.

NH test sides also play a mantra of defences win games while the SH nations play to score more points. So in a regular test match its more likely for a tri-nations side to win however when the WC comes around they suffer due the win-at-all-costs nature of knock-out competition.

Or something like that.

Thanks so much! I think one reason I do like the SH style is the higher scoring, which adds a bit more electricity to the atmosphere of the game. It just seems faster and more aggressive than many of the all-NH matches I've watched. And I appreciate your breakdown of team tactics - it gives me something to look for now, which will, in turn, help me get a better grasp of the game. It also makes me think that England better stop relying on power and spice up their game a bit with a new style.

Thanks, again. :)

Now, back to your regularly scheduled match...

Excellent drive, good awareness from youngs for the try. Corbs would have scored if the pass wasn't ****.

With Youngs getting 2 and Flood 1 you are not going to hear the end of this from Leicester fans saying how they've saved England.

Don't say I didn't warn you

England have been a far improved team since Marler and Botha went off. Nervous last 18 for the Boks.

jesus we have to get in the right parts of the pitch now. Dammmm Waldrom...

We literally only play well when we're down and out seemingly with nothing to lose

Hmm, maybe because rugby is South Africa's(Well white South Africans) and New Zealand's National sport they live, breath and **** the game. The weather in the Southern Hemisphere suits running rugby so they've developed a fast running game that historically the NH teams couldn't live with. Rugby in Europe is played during the winter in harsh conditions. This makes it difficult to throw the ball around so they adapted to this by developing a more kicking/territorial game. I may be talking out of my arse though. Also South Africans are quite large.

I thank you for your input. Coupled with Teh Mite's response, I'm starting to see a clearer picture of the differences in styles. And weather conditions. :)

Well Rolland got that call wrong. Binding on the arm and the fact that the SA Tight Head went down and was hinging like a fish says it all.

That was lucky. I wonder what sir will do to decide the outcome...

Hmm. Thought du Plessis was binding on the arm in that scrum. Kick missed anyhow.

Argh this is where I hate the scrum. Its a complete lottery now, and thats dangerous to whichever team is closest to their own posts

I misheard and thought the ref just said, 'the only reason you got away with that is because the scrum stayed up. You've lost your mind', and immediately I thought, 'Wow...that's a bit harsh.'
