[RWCQ] Uruguay vs. United States. 1st Leg, 22/03/14

I would agree.....he has had little chance to shine with us and certainly not enough to warrant international selection. However, I do fear that this missed selection will end his tenure at Biarritz as he seeks a bigger club to try and regain his position with you!! There must be plenty of clubs who will be after him............but he has been a terrific servant for BO and would leave with his head high unlike many.....

Looks like a good mix that U.S.A. squad, enough veterans to take care of buisness, interjected with a good mix of youth and fringe guys who'll get an oppourtunity to show what they can do.

The US always has really good squads on paper now I would like to see them start turning that quality into results on the field.

Two important areas where the Eagles are usually subpar: the halfbacks and the props. I include poor goal kicking in the halfback issue. Strangely enough, those positions seem to be the strength of our U20s this year.

Curious to know why Siddall isn't included. He's been in the States and playing out in Cali with Belmont Shore...

This info on rugbymag? Haven't been over there in awhile...

Think so. Disappointing as he looks like he can be a really good player, but with all the stuff coming out about concussions these days, it's for the best to sit it out until he's ready.

Scully has been a rock at tigers.

He has handle to the likes of Yarde (just returned from injury) and North brilliantly. Has been one of my favourite players and has put in 100% commitment.

Some interesting selections:

Backs: Mike Petri (NYAC), Toby L'Estrange (London Welsh), Tim Maupin (Olympic Club), Andrew Suniula (London Wasps), Folau Niua (Glasgow Warriors), Blaine Scully (Leicester), Chris Wyles (Saracens)

Bench: Tom Coolican (Richmond), Nick Wallace (James Bay), ***i Lamositele (Saracens), Lou Stanfill (Seattle-OPSB), Kyle Sumsion (BYU), Shalom Suniula (Seattle-OPSB), Seamus Kelly (Cal), Luke Hume (Narbonne)

Not dressed: Miles Craigwell (Seattle-OPSB), Tai Tuisamoa (OMBAC), Robbie Shaw (London Scottish)

Some interesting selections:

Yeah a few choices that surprised me there but I guess this is a good series to try some new combinations and players while still facing an opponent which is at least competent in the fundamentals of the game.

The Uruguayan lineup was named and I have added both teams to the start of the thread. Eagles look stronger on the whole with certain exceptions, possibly the front row which I would say is a slight Uruguayan advantage and at scrum half I would rate Oramachea better than Petri (and maybe Etcheverry over Maupin), but other than that Eagles are pretty much stronger across the board particularly from 12-15 where that American backline with decent ball could run riot in the final quarter and in the loose forwards where I think Los Teros could get worn down by what is actually a damn good backrow.

I'm guessing a comprehensive but not massive Eagles win, something like a 34-13 ish scoreline, Uruguay will almost certainly be playing tight and trying to use the set pieces where they can compete, they don't have very good goalkicking so that won't be a big advantage point I would think(though for any possible upset they'll probably need to be perfect off the tee and hope the Eagles leave points on the board). The home crowd will get them motivated which could help keep the game within touch for the first half. American bench is much deeper as well.

C'mon Uruguay! C'mon South America!

Vamos los Teros, carajo!!!

Yeah only the spanish feed is working right now still(god I hate streaming), 3-3 just under fifteen minutes in.

Edit: HAHAHAHAHAHA I typed that right before a gimme penalty that Niua drilled off the post it's actually 3-3 not 6-3.

Edit Edit: Crowd looks a healthy size, not massive but a good turnout from what I've seen of the stadium.

The official stream is working for me, so I assumed I was a minute behind the other streams!

That penalty miss was shocking. Even I could have got that one.
