[RWC2023] France vs New Zealand (08/09/2023)

Look out, the French are bringing on "last 10 minute Serge" according to Dayglo

If france can win this, with their main guys not clicking on full power, then I think they are on for a long run.

NZ though... rough, some really nice attacking stuff but some realy sloppy stuff. If they go out in the quarters its deserved for keeping foster and propping him up with elite coaches to try and hide how bad he is.

That's it! Love to see it. Nothing better in world rugby than New Zealand losing!

Outrageous 🤣 I've gone from detesting France to loving them in about 3 mins…

NZ are all over the shop and France have hung in them turned it on. Bravo

And that's that, I thought France might just lose a tight one, but it's been quite one-sided in the second half.
Yep completely agree- France have just edged the physical contest and as such their opportunities have come and they have taken them. Superb start for the French.

My overarching thought from today is that NH form lines (FRA-IRE-SCO) - especially Ireland- look very strong.

Fascinating stuff!

Well thats my prediction of a comfortable NZ win giving me an abysmal start to the tournament. I expected them to cut open the French defence for soft tries and they did that. But they've had about 5 line breaks all game it feels. They just seemed incapable of setting up any sort of platform compared to Scotland vs France (admittedly friendlies).

At least they've three matches to iron things out and get Jordie back for the QF, but I would have loved to see a full strength Italy have a crack at these ABs.

France need to have the mentality that they need to improve by an order of magnitude. If they think they are on track I think they will be in for a rude awakening.

As I say, both sides could look better in more normal conditions.
