[RWC2023] France vs Italy (06/10/2023)

Probably overshadowed by Dupont as well.
When Penaud came in I would argue he was overshadowed by Teddy Thomas on the other wing. The latest in a long line of speedster wingers that just loses the magic due to injury. I think Penaud now is better than peak Teddy and that is pretty much the biggest compliment I could give.

Dickson again, just riffing for France...

That defender never touched the ball, and it came out pretty quickly. Another case of the ref just assuming the better team are doing the right things.
So busy watching for the slightest infraction from one team that the other team can pretty much do what they want.

Every time I watch France in the last few years I think they look quite a bit like what the all blacks used to look like. Play heads up rugby Combining athleticism with skill with intelligence and awareness with calm confidence and connectedness .

Marcus Goosen has been Italian defensive coach for at least 5 years. Its weird how they are showing effort in attack but have been an unending calamity in defence.

And another of the vast majority of games at this world cup that isnt competitive 5 mins into the 2nd half...

Combining the ridiculous reffing, the massive delays between games (4 weeks in and we arent even at the knockouts), and the awful ITV commentary, this might be the least interesting and most boring RWC I've ever witnessed...

And I was out there for the first 10 days, seems like months ago

This World Cup has been the worst for competitiveness since 2003. So many blow-out scores. A 24 team RWC is an absolute fantasy.

At least the competition with lower tier teams against each other could be fun.
