[RWC2023] England vs Argentina (09/09/2023)

England should be thanking Argentina for playing so badly

and the ref
I can't wait to comment on every slight bias decision that goes against South Africa tomorrow.

Bring back Joubert

My oh my, can you believe those two teams are supposed to be the equivalent of France and NZ in pool A or Ireland and SA in pool B?
Does it really make any sense ?
Argentinians were abysmal and England never looked like scoring a try even though they scored 27 points...

For me, Rugby is about running and scoring tries. If you enjoyed this then good for you. For me it was worse than dire.
To do that against a team with numerical advantage would have been suicidal though.

I'm not saying England could have played attractive rugby, but they did what they needed to do in the circumstances.

I mea, if they had shown any ability from open play, yeah. We shall see. Their group is so weak I don't think we will be able to evaluate until the knockouts.
With a man down they didn't try to attack, nor did they need to as Arg gave away a penalty within 2 simple phases. Would have been stupid to push for try's tbh.

I will not judge Eng attack based on that game. The previous games in Borthwick's tenure tells a story though, but there's also been a lot of reds in those 2.

Sometimes some confidence can do a huge difference though. It can course through a squad so quickly and make a lot of things click. Most of Wales' 6N grand slams have shown that.

Btw, feels very wrong to be the one defending and bigging up English performance/chances. If Wales get through though, I will 100% want to avoid England now!

Holy **** did you see Shark Babysicks ears?

"THE BEACONS ARE LIT!!"

What the actual f***?! How can anyone complain about Englands lack of attack. They played with 14 men for 77mins. They played with their heads.

Some of you need to give your heads a wobble. It's a World Cup, not an autumn international

Genuinely deserved by England, didnt let up in defence, even a man down(and a defensive leader in curry). Kept them out for what 76 min, must tough a man down it will give eventually.

George for smashed it with the dropgoals
Lawes was brilliant
Earl stepped up and got stuck in.
Fought well in the air and kept pressure

Now attack is dire like really bad but Borthwick takes some blame for that and making the coaching team but lineout and defence were great. But he doesnt do the att.

Well done England. Got to say I didn't expect this win and going down a man after 3 minutes didn't make it any easier.
Argentina were poor, but a win is a win and takes the pressure off before Japan.
Big performances from Ford, Lawes, Tuilagi and Itoje.
Pleased for Borthwick too. Can't have been easy watching the dross of the AI's

Erm not really. Checks map, yep all different countries. It makes sense if you understand when the draw was made and the rankings at the time.
