The thing that surprises me about Japan actually being good, is that they have so many B and C list Foreign players. Like Luke Thomson was never even good enough for Super Rugby I don't think, and here is. Wouldn't get near the squad for any other 'good' team.

Nope they're only Hope was a typhoon and an Irish loss... they got one, but it just wasn't quite as catastrophic as they needed.

Not true, if Scotland win with a BP and prevent Japan from getting the losing BP then they can still go through. But for all intents and purposes, yes, Japan have secured qualification.
