RWC Semi Final: New Zealand - Australia (16-10-2011, 21:00)

We were also without our most influential player of 2011 Jerome Kaino, honestly that's a loss as big as aussies losing Pocock.
Kaino is becoming a great of the game, much better than Jerry Collins ever was.

You retract that statement swine!!!!!! Lol

Nope. Why we lost is very important when it comes to preparing for the next meeting.

Yes, why we lost is very important. But history doesn't record what happened on the day in games like that. All it comes down to is, who won and in World Cups, all it comes down to is who won. There is no use making excuses for a game we all know we could've won.

Could've, Should've, Would've but Didn't.

I'm saying that what happened in the Tri-Nations decider is very important in preparing a game plan for this coming weekend. Kind of obvious I would have thought.

No team has ever won the WC having lost a game at the pool stages, food for thought. This could be the time that it get's changed. Records are there to be broken etc, etc.

Hope it's not France having lost two, just because it would be a bit harsh say on AB's as the only unbeaten team and they lose in the final.

Should have left it at that :D. ABs, in my opinion, were better served by a loss in the tri-nations decider than a win. I remember thinking at the time it was more a good thing than bad. Probably the only time I havn't been gutted about a loss, especially in a game that big. Fact is Aus did win but the ABs will look at that 2nd half performance and will want to replicate it this weekend for 80mins, Aussie couldn't take the heat. A ***anic forward orientated battle will go our way, a loose, fast paced game will go either way. I hope we resist the urge to always spin it wide and just bash it up all game long and get our kicking game on.

Why do you fantasize about NZ choking in the world cup haha? We have done it so many times! aren't you getting sick of it?

I'd feel sorry for us if I were a neutral.

NZ lost that game yes, but I think the more relevant result was the game at Eden park wouldn't you agree?

The only "choke" imo was the 2003 loss to Australia. Although no other team would ever be called chokers for losing to Australia in Sydney. But we underperformed terribly in that match with an outstanding team that was more than capable of winning.

None of our other World Cup exits were "chokes".

Yep, I think homeground advantage will matter in this game. I think in this years tri-nations weve seen that already, I think every team that played at home won for this years tri nations.

^I'd be more than happy with that starting 22. They'd beat Aussie who must be the most overrated team left in the world cup. And Pocock is the breakdown king but our loosie combo trumps theirs.

I guess you were about five years old in 2003 when comments like this were common before the semi final between the same two teams. It just makes any potential victory feel that much better. Thank you.

Australia beat South Africa in Durban.

If australia wins it would be entirely because of Colin Slade who shits his pants everytime he gets the ball, cruden is miles better

good luck to both teams, hope australia remembers how to play rugby for this match

you didnt watch crudens last game against australia last time he started last year hahaha! Almost lost the game on his own and it was Colin Slades entry into the game that steadied the ship for NZ. AB's best option is for weepu at 5/8.

Yeah but we got no Carter *sobs*, I think the blueprint from the 2nd half loss to the Wallabies is the way to go now, forward battle til the cows come home. If we still lose fair play to Aussie, but I don't see them winning another game the way they did against the Boks i.e being dominated everywhere but the score board

That's a matter of opinion, and I don't agree with that.

Clearly some of our teams haven't coped well with favouritism and played poorly in must win games, that's a "choke".

I was alive when Australia last won at Eden Park. It was the year before NZ last won the World Cup.

Aussie mentality.

When they have their backs to the wall and go into a big game as underdogs they very often come up with a big performance. Not always but often enough.

When they are confident and talking themselves up they more often than not fall on their asses. I am looking for some big talk to come out of the Wallaby camp this week.

Agreed. At times they display the mental strength of marshmellows. This was my biggest fear going into the ireland game and was my worst nightmare come true.
I dont think the wallabies ever take the AB's for granted but Eden Park definitely has an edge that intimidates some of our players. Quade Cooper in general has not played 1 good game ever on NZ soil.Home ground advantage means everything. Im sure the wallabies would much prefer to play at suncorp.

Yeah we last won the world cup on the same exact ground :). Infact we are undefeated in any world cup game on home soil and have a 100% success rate with finals matches played in NZ. Daunting.

Wow, you're going to actually ride that? You say it as if playing World Cup finals in NZ is a regular occurrence.

I'm takin the ****. Besides it true. It's going to take one hell of a performance to beat us at Eden park. Aussie will need to pull out atleast one try from the end of the world, and maybe even better it. Infact they may need two of em.
