RWC Semi Final: New Zealand - Australia (16-10-2011, 21:00)

you never know but if cooper hasn't fired so far what are the chances of him firing against the AB's who are one team that have been able to shut him down when he has been in good form otherwise?

I think the answer to your question is in the form of your first three words.

we got to the semis with a tough win against a great side after being written off by everyone following the ireland loss, whether we are overrated or not is irrelevant.

do wales and france fall under the category of overrated too?

all the annoying drivel on the internet about how badly the wallabies suck has just gotten the best of me, according to all the south african fans a week ago we should be landing in sydney any minute now.

sorry ACT1NUP, sure you didn't say half of that and i'm not quoting you.

any team that wins it deserves it, france, wallabies and wales all finished 2nd in their pool, the all blacks have lost their star player. the winner will do it tough

France do, Wales don't.

I don't understand, you're the one that made the random comment. Now you're reacting to your own comment.?

To be honest, none of the teams have been labelled overrated and I think they all deserve to be there. Or do you think England and Ireland deserved it more than Wales and France?

Don't think any NZ fans think you guys are overrated (you did win the tri nations and beat us in the decider). I think people have been underrating the Wallabies all tournament. With Pocock on the field it's almost impossible to get continual quick ball to put the defence under any real pressure. SA had all the ball yesterday, but it was so slow the Wallabies were able to regroup time and again on D.

I backed the Aussies all the way to beat the Bok's.

The only thing that annoys me is that this game could have potentially been the final.
Why did Aussie have to play so poorly against Ireland?

Aussie IMO have the 2nd most talented squad in the world cup haha.

I know the aussies will come out firing this weekend, i'm just hoping the Boks took a little sting out of their defence.

NZ has been the most consistent side since Rugby was invented, we're long over due another world cup. Surely we wont let this one slip away.

Two interesting and competing facts:

1. Every previous World Cup winner has been undefeated. Only the All Blacks are undefeated so far in 2011.

2. Every World Cup winner has beaten the previous champions - 1991 Aus bt NZ in semi-final; 1995 SA bt Aus in pool; 1999 Aus bt SA in semi-final; 2003 Eng bt Aus in final; 2007 SA bt Eng in final; 2011 Aus bt SA in quarter-final.

Does any of this mean anything? One of these records is about to die.

I thought that when England won the cup they got hammered in pool play.

They beat us in the tri nations decider yes, in Aussie. After NZ had travelled back from SA with key members of the ABs flying in from NZ. I think it was more the decision of not taking our best players to SA by the three wise men that cost us the Aussie game. We should have played our top 15 in SA and again against Aus, outcome probably would have been different. Speculating of course :). Anyway people need to remember what happened in that game. Aussie dominated the first half outright, ABs changed tack just like that and took the game back. It was one piece of brilliance by Genia that got them home. Now in this semi all the ABs need to do is rely on their systems and back themselves 100%. If Aussie win this game I think it will literally be down to one peice of brilliance from an individual. ABs can win it the same way or by the way of a complete team performance, something I think the Aussies can't do, just yet.

Do you mean the part where we lost??. All that matters at the end of the day is the scoreline.

I've muddled together all of the All Blacks group stages with the 3N, so I was thinking "Wasn't Thompson playing 8?" "Wasn't Carter out?" "Wasn't Mccaw out?"

Ignore this post... :p

We were also without our most influential player of 2011 Jerome Kaino, honestly that's a loss as big as aussies losing Pocock.
Kaino is becoming a great of the game, much better than Jerry Collins ever was.

Aussie mentality.

When they have their backs to the wall and go into a big game as underdogs they very often come up with a big performance. Not always but often enough.

When they are confident and talking themselves up they more often than not fall on their asses. I am looking for some big talk to come out of the Wallaby camp this week.
