I know most people think this game is a forgone conclusion, but the fact that Keiran Crowley has named his best side against a second string French side, will mean that the french will know they have been in a game when the full time whistle is blown.

Look for the Canadians to take on France in the forwards, particularly in the contact area, and for the French to again ask questions of the Canadian midfield defence.

France is never as poor as for this kind of game, but I would not consider the team as a B one.
For sure Ducalcon as a lot on his shoulder, but I suppose the second line is strong enough to balance.
Third line is mobile but expect Picamoles to make a big performance here.

It will be interesting to see if Canada continues their unusual defensive line alignment by keeping Smith more on the inside and Monro out wide. I think this has been to compensate Smith's relative lack of speed and Monro's lack of size. The French are much more threatening on the flanks than Tonga.

I wonder if Hearn will get some touches, he didn't play poorly but was probably the Canadian player who was least involved against the Sea Eagles.

Funny you should mention that, I was wondering about that myself. With Hearn, the downside is he has nothing in attack. Yeah, he can kick and is sound in defence, but he has the least flair of anyone in our backline. I wonder if when Evans is healthy we could tinker with him replacing Hearn on the wing and Trainor replacing Smith?

9) Fairhurst
10) Monro
11) Mackenzie
12) Trainor
13) DTH
14) Evans
15) Pritchard

A backline like that can hurt you in attack every which way and doesn't have a weak link in defence. Maybe it's something to think about for the Japan game.

As I said before, France should win this. I look for Canada to focus on the only slight advantage they have in physicality, everything else belongs to the French, some things very much belong to the French. I expect France to target our backline, particularily our 10-12 gap and to make us pay for a single missed tackle.

That being said France was better than Italy in every way as well and we all know how that turned out. We gotta have some hope or all games would be boring and I love how Canada is playing their first team. If the substitutes are timed appropriately, I expect the score to be a lot close than most people think.

Je Blage.

Allez les Rouges (Yes we speak french too.)

I say we hold St. Pierre and Miquelon as ransom.

How about this, we split it?

We get a 14 1/2 point lead and Miquelon. France gets 14 1/2 point lead and St Pierre.

Deal?

It looks unlikely, but upsets happen all the time. Anyone remember this? Epic fail by Salo.

If Belarus can knock off one of the best teams in the world, we can too! ;)

Why is it not Allez les Francais?

Just interested, I know learning a language from a dictionary is not the proper way to go about, but you take what is given :p

As for the match, hoping Canada can keep it close, because if Bad France pitch, who's to say they don't stand a chance of winning?
