Every time Morne kicked, I was just swearing and shaking my head. The number of facepalms today was higher than the number of metres gained by kicks of the Boks.

Who will captain that side?

Whomever it might be he'd do a better job than JdV. From that bunch I'd go for Bekker. Captain is a problem for us ATM though. If you look at the regions the captains are

Spies - please, no
J Smith/ S Burger - been injured so long probably won't play for the Bokke again
JdV - not a captain
K Daniel - not up to it at test level
J Strauss - not even in SA

Senior players that are should form part of the Bok squad;
W Alberts
B du Plessis
T Mtawarira
A Bekker
F Steyn

all not captain material. At least not for the long haul. I like the look of M Coetzee and can see him make the Bok 7 jersey his permanently. Whether he has the temperament to be captain is a question though. Or make the bet on Bismarck like Allister Coetzee did with Burger at the Stormers which might be just what he needs. I think Du Plessis could actually improve as a player if he stops "psyching" himself up before matches and and plays the game with controlled power. That and his brother being on the field is a slight liability IMO.

Personally I am glad we lost because of Steyn. I just can't see how HM could justify NOT dropping him in favor of Goosen. Players that have shown they need the axe are Steyn, Kirschner and JdV. These are starters that should not even be in the squad truth be told. As for some of the others well they're only there because of injuries/suspensons to the likes of Bismarck, Etzebeth, Oosthuizen & Cilliers (talking about Greyling).

I think FLouw did alright but he's a poor man's Brussow (who seems to be on the up and up), Goosen, Lambie and Taute are the youngsters that'll give the backline some energy. I'd strongly consider Hougaard or Piet van Zyl at 9 if we could get rid of Steyn or if Pienaar could up the pace when it's on I'd be happy enough but in Hougaard and Van ZYl I'd prefer investing in the guys plying their trade in SA.

What I'd like to see for the games in SA;

1 Mtawarira
2 Strauss (to be replaced when Bismarck is fit)
3 Mujati if available / Du Plessis (to be replaced when either of Cilliers or Oosthuizen are fit)

10 Lambie (rotate with Goosen to create depth)

13 Juan de Jongh (I believe he could do serious damage if given some space by Lambie/Goosen on a skip pass, solid on D)

16 Guthro Steenkamp (just to answer the injury SOS)

Glad we lost that match actually...finding it very hard to support the Boks lately I won't lie! Meyer must open his eyes now! Why take off the beast when he is starting to find his old form again...oh maybe he had to give Greyling(a bull) 20min and Lambie only gets 6min! Wow!

Won't even go on the negatives too many of them and depressing too.
So on the positives:

Willem Alberts was good at the beginning but just kinda faded along as the game went on.
Frans Louw was good I felt with a couple of good steals and 1 or 2 other he should have got but is nowhere near Brussow standard!
Frans Steyn immense! I want all those who felt Steyn is not a centre to please stand up! I back him at centre and he did superbly there for us at the RWC!
Goosen did well but I'd love to see Lambie have a go @ 10 as I feel that's his best position. Speaking of Lambie I feel so sorry for the guy! F*ckin Meyer must just leave him out the squad in SA and let him go play for the Sharks if he won't start for the Boks.

Anyway that's all the positives I wanna share!

See, as much as I disliked the selections, I can't cheer against a side for that.
What I was hoping for was a Bok win with Steyn looking poor. A bit far-fetched, but still.

No, as long as we win, Meyer won't change anything. The worst moment in SA rugby history this year was Morne's try against England. That just gave him a huge buffer to **** up without being dropped.

Wow. The ABs were there for the taking but thanks to Morne Steyn(who made his debut for the all blacks today) we managed to win.

Cant help but feel that the hole that Kaino and Thorn left might be bigger than I thought.

No. Doubt he'd have done any better than Nonu in this match. He was good, but in my opinion he was over hyped.

Yep - certainly. For two reasons in my mind. You look at the All Blacks team and they still lack in physicality in the ruck, tackle area and even ball in hand. The All Blacks have three forwards at the moment who usually hit the d-line hard and make the advantage line and that's Read, McCaw and Romano. Kaino was better at it than any of them though during the RWC. We need that. Brad Thorn was just immense when it came to the set piece and especially rucks. The other thing which I think the AB's miss Thorn for is we don't really have an enforcer. Thorn leaving has made McCaw's life a lot harder.
