Rugby 2012 player ratings? Players with 99

Where are people rubbishing Nonu? Examples, or that comment means nothing.

My original comment was regarding some one saying that he was one dimensional and lacked tackling experience.
I'm not gonna go hunting but i've seen plenty of other comments about his poor passing and ball handling skills

Nonu has got better passing than DC .

All players 99 rating...sorry I'm missing a few positions

15. Muliaina
14. Habana
13. O'Driscoll
12. Nonu
11. Sivivatu
10. Carter
9. Du Preez
8. Harinordoquay
7. McCaw
6. George Smith
5. Matfield
4.
3. Hayman
2.
1. Benn Robinson

I know George Smith is an openside but he'd be up there.

Spies is fairly average and Harinordoquay is probably the best no. 8 in the world right now... but I wouldn't rate him as '99'... same with Nonu...

Harinordoquy has been struggling for the beginning of the season, otherwise I think a 99 would be fair.

Hayman is not as good as he used to be a few years ago. I watch him play every weekend now and I can tell you he suffers a lot in scrums and gets tired pretty quickly but he played very well last friday againt Racing Metro 92. He's a good player but he'd be overated with a 99.

As for Smith, he is probably the best player in Toulon, along with Fernandez-Lobbe. Very aggressive, steals balls in rucks, very fast and stuff. I'm a little concerned about his passing game though but I'm sure it's because he's just arrived in Toulon. But yeah 99 is the right mark :D

Smith has generally displayed excellent ball skills... I'm sure he'll only get better...

Already missing him in Australia...

David Pocock
Richie McCaw
Dan Carter
Rocky Elsom
Quade Cooper
and The All Blacks

ratings

the new zealand rugby team is deffinetly the best but from it i would only bick 2 star players, Dan carter and richie mccaw. ma nonu is a great player but he isnt a rating of 99. in rugby 08 though, star players wernt always rated 99. george smith is only rated 93 in rugby 08 and is stilla star.

There should be no player with a rating over 95. The star players should stay and the effects should be realistic. Star players should be influential and if a star player gets injured they yeams performance should drop. There should be a team morale and form that changes depending on results the lineup and who the captain is. There should be a leadership rating.

Varndell needs 99 for speed in attack, 45 for speed in defence and about 3 for all other attributes (except the Pansy one).

Nonu does not deserve 99, I don't think anyone does... because 99 is so close to perfect and not even Danny Boy is that close to perfect.. I think the highest rating should be around late 80's, 90/91 tops... there is no "complete" player in the entire world of rugby, everyone has their flaws, yes, even the brilliant Daniel Carter and Richie McCaw, even though Richie is potentially the best rugby player in the world.

Rugby players are positional players, they improve skills needed for their preferred position, eg. 1st fives are usually the goal kickers so they would hold that skill over a prop who is more focussed on scrummaging where a prop would be better than a 1st five with this skill. What I mean is, for someone to have a rating of 99, they need to be pretty much, the BEST at all but one or two skills and it's just not possible.

Why can't you be a 99 for your position? I dont get why people get so uppity about ratings.

or maybe the only fullback during the henry era?...
Nah I like Mils, but I honestly think Dagg provides alot more. Not doubting Mils, Just showing love for Dagg

i'll tell you why, because it is an OVERALL rating, meaning your overall skill set. And most players can play in different positions and are not restricted to one position which would throw out being rated 99 for their position.

Why is Nonu; an all black sf8 have a rating of 80 ? he is the most complete sf in the world i reckon .

That's why they have positional ratings. The 99, I would think, would only apply if the player was playing in their favoured position. Take a look at FIFA games; if you put a player in a position they're not so good at, their rating drops, and it shows you.

I dunno I think 99 is a bit unrealistic...I dont think there should be a huge gulf between players, and to be honest I would prefer it if players represented themselves on there best form. So say Carter is 95, I would have Wilkisnon as at least 92, he is always man of the match for toulon and still is a world class player, im not just making the point about wilkinson though for example Brian O'driscoll should still have a quality rating as he is still world class, even if you make him slightly less quick than in previous games, he should have as relatively good a rating with different areas of strength. Im not australian but alot of people are saying Elsom should be 80s, to be honest he is up there with Mccaw in my opinion, and he doesnt cheat as blatently as much either.

Elsom is nowhere near McCaw and please quit with the cheating BS against McCaw. He doesn't do anything different from what George Smith or Phil Waugh used to do, but because he's consistently on his game, everyone starts pouring out the conspiracy theories and hate!

If Elsom is say 90... then McCaw will be 150 IMO. To make this game realistic, HB should ensure that Elsom's lips don't stop chattering away during the game, and at every single stoppage he approaches the referee to whinge about what the All Blacks are doing and then whinge about how many penalties his team isn't getting.
