RBS 6 Nations - England vs Wales - 25/02/2012, 16:00

There has been a reported crash in London..oh wait that was the chariot. Dry i know, but hey ho. England were cheating all throughout the game, hands in the ruck slowing it down, dodgy line out throws, knock ons, with Walsh on their side. This created slow ball, and allowed England to put Wales on the backfoot, had this not of happened, Wales would have blown England off the park. What about the Warburton line out drop, surely a yellow at least. England won't go further, they just stepped up because it was Wales (You'll see). Although Wales played really bad today, worst in a long time. Strettles disallowed try was the right decision, he was held up and then when grounded it, it was behind the line.

I thought though, as soon as Farrell went off, England were playing too deep. But they did play well. Tuilagi is overrated though, he bumps one player off, and suddenly he is great. If players went around his legs as Warburton did early in the game, he cannot do anything.

Still, how embarrassing must it be to be Welsh? Anyone could have hammered England. I'd be ashamed.

All jokes aside... England's performance today has placed everyone on notice. Here's to hoping its but a temporary blip (I doubt it though).

Haha, lucky I recorded this one. Are all these key moments everyone is arguing about towards the end of the game? I'm just gonna watch the 2nd half.

Halfpeeny made up a lot of ground to save a last ditch attempt to salvage points at the end for England.
Leigh'' Shilling'' imho is the biggest man in the Welsh team

Bloody hell, what's been going on here then.

What do people expect to see from a penalty advantage? England got over the try and were arguably unlucky not to score a try, how is that not enough advantage? There's nothing in the rules that states that a penalty advantage has to last for 30 seconds, it's up to the ref, and he correctly (imo) deemed that a scoring opportunity was sufficient.

I've been ignoring all the reffing/decision chat because its a bit **** and makes no difference, but as a matter of consistency of what I watch and how I am reffed, I would expect a ref to bring back advantage should a team cross the tryline but not score a try when in that area of the pitch - just as taking a drop goal or putting in a speculative chip is not considered advantage over. As a rule of thumb, having the opportunity to score points does not mean advantage from a penalty offence for most refs.

Of course Walsh can play it however the hell he likes and England were architects of their own downfall so its still somewhat immaterial, but I am quite surprised to see you say this as it goes completely against the vast majority of reffing I've seen, and what I'd have thought you'd have seen as well.

Wales for me didn't play to their best but for me there was a reason for that and that was England stopped them playing to their best so it was not just Wales playing badly it was a case of Wales not being their best and England adding to that stopping them playing to their best, England were very good in defence very powerful right up on the game line, although saying that Wales were much the same something we have been very good at in recent times is our defensive work we seem to be right on the money when it comes to soaking up the pressure.

I thought Tuilagi had a very impressive game for England as did Farrell, also for me Barret went through a hell of a lot of work and put a lot of tackles in good game for him too, for Wales goes without saying Waburton had a very impressive game seemed to be the only one with any idea how to tackle Tuilagi, Halfpenny had a cracking game no matter what came at him he kept going fair play to him hes going to be sore today very sore, Preistlans today was not very good couldnt seem to find touch with anything and still concerned about the Welsh lineout we still not great in that area (have we ever been).

Scott Williams made amends for his poor play when the overlap was on for a certain walk in try with a nice try at the end and so glad Halfpenny kicked the conversion aswell.

A great game and a cracking spectacle for the fans, full of emotion, crunching tackles, some great play, and the fans well I thought they played their part too in great voice.

A fair result maybe? I dont think a draw would of been unfair, boy I am glad Wales won though, England had more of the ball I thought and did well with it but Wales slighty better in defence and came away with the win.

I have not mentioned the ref as he was rubbish all game terrible decision against both teams the less said about him the better. Also was I the only person to get really peed off with Moore commentating so so biased all we needed was Jiffy there then it would be a right Nationallity fest of nation lovers.

I see a lot of Wales bashing saying we are not as good as people say, umm Jiffy is a tool when he talks about Wales completely blind to anything around him as are the media but what else to you expect, but we are a good team I am sorry wont be told other wise, we went to Ireland and came away with a win (not the easiest of places to go and win), beat a rugged Scottish team at home (exppected to be fair) and then we beat a vastly improved England team at Twickenham (not many team do that especially NH teams).

A sign of a good team is to win even when you are not playing well.

Halfpenny, for me, is the most important of the Welsh backs atm.
He doesn't catch the eye smashing over people like Philips or North, but the amount of work he gets through, without looking phased (getting flattened by Robshaw, getting right back up and making 10m, for example) is immense.

When you see how that un-inspired welsh team managed to beat England at home you see another Grand Slam coming fast from the horizon...
Italy will as usual be an issue only during first half and France will not have a one-man advantage this time.

Never thought this would of been an easy game, but England looked a huge amount better. Got to agree about Halfpenny, the work he does is outstanding, and I was also gutted to hear about Roberts- nreckon its a blow to Wales but made way for the impressive try from Scott Williams.

Disappointing that North deliberately slapped the ball out of play after the kick - lost a lot of respect for him after that. And were those 3/4(if you count the advantage the ref did'nt come back to) penalties on Wales line before the Strettle try not bordering on cynical play/penalty try? :(

Also Mike Brown put Strettle in an awful position for his disallowed try - he passed the ball to him immediately after receiving it, what ever happened to drawing the man and then passing .

I'm not going to say England should have won the game, but its promising to know we could have I spose.

I agree with most you say , everyone is having a pop at Jiffy but during England's dominance their players and management oozed arrogance.Brian Moore was part of that set up so nothing he says susprises me . I think it's extremely difficult for any pundit to remain totally unbiased in fairness.
Brian Moore makes me laugh with his bia

What will be interesting is, when cipriani returns next year will owen farell be dropped, will he be moved to centre or will he remain unchallenged at 10?
Farrell cemented his position in the team yesterday, he orchestrated his back line and was instrumental in nearly all the attacking play. And boy, didn't we all wince when he took that hit off North! but who was back up and attacking the Welsh line? He has def got the makings of a class No 10.

Great day at the pub, I have the hangover from hell. Great game, well done Wales. I am happy to a degree England improved and we did not get smashed which to be honest was a real concern of mine.

Not take anything away from Wales again well done to them.

Why is it that the 'Welsh were uninspired' instead of 'England managed to shut down pretty much all there back play and force them not to play the way they wanted to :roll eyes:'.

Perhaps North should have stepped aside and said "here you go Stret, Have 5 points on me!" Yea right! England were vastly improved on the previous two games but played to their full potential on the day,and they will continue to improve. Wales were awful (especially Plillips and Priestland) and played nowhere near their full potential, but still managed to pinch a win so we'll gratefully accept it.As for the ref, it was Steve Walsh! his middle name is "controversial", but that's 6 nations rugby for you.

THey moved about 5m forewords, where is the advantage?
