Premiership Rugby 22/23 - Rd 2

It'll be nice this weekend not to end up with any more grey hair!

Relaxed Chill GIF

Mad that Saints game isn't on PRTV even with the weeks notice of rescheduling - they've really been screwed over by all this mess

Im expecting a bit of a kicking down at Welford Road....

Predictions:
Northampton v London Irish - Exiles are dark horses this year for me
Bath v Sale - If the Sharks want to be top 4, they have to win these kinds of games
Harlequins v Saracens - Got a feeling Quins will spank them. A probably rusty Sarries to be caught cold
Leicester v Newcastle - Defending Champs at home, coming off a loss.… Ouch.
Wasps v Bristol - Genuinely have no idea, probably the two most Jekyll and Hyde teams in the league. High scoring
Worcester v Exeter - Sorry Warriors, can't see anything but a big away win - banker.

Predictions: used same style as you @OllyM97 so thanks for that:)

Northampton v London Irish - Agree with this, Exiles looked good last week but expecting a response from Saints at home. Exiles by 3
Bath v Sale - Bath still looking to find groove under Van Graam, did play well last week. Sale with full team out are excellent but without Ford/Quirke they feel much less effective. Sale by 5
Harlequins v Saracens - Quins got the win last week but were extremely lucky IMHO. Expect a full bore sarries team coming and this game to get aggy after last years Semi. Sarries by 3
Leicester v Newcastle - Leicester to win but closer than we think. Falcons looked well drilled last week and that driving maul is dangerous but reckon Leicester will still put on a show. Leicester by 10
Wasps v Bristol - Agreed that we are chaotic to say the least from a Wasps perspective. Really could depend on if Tom West is back as don't fancy Hislop vs Sinckler. Going Bristol by 3 out of logic rather than loyalty. I'd be very happy if I got this one wrong :)
Worcester v Exeter - Yeah can't really see a result where Exeter don't win, however do expect it to be close as home crowd will turn up after everything that's happened. Exeter by 5

Agree with all your predictions, really hope the Wuss Vs Chiefs game is going ahead.

Sale Sharks Starting XV:
15. Luke James, 14. Tom Roebuck, 13. Sam James, 12. Manu Tuilagi, 11. Tom O'Flaherty, 10. Robert du Preez, 9. Gus Warr; 1. Simon McIntyre, 2. Akker van der Merwe, 3. Nick Schonert, 4. Cobus Wiese, 5. Jonny Hill, 6. Jean-Luc du Preez, 7. Ben Curry (C), 8. Daniel du Preez

Replacements:
16, Ewan Ashman, 17. Ross Harrison, 18. James Harper, 19, Jono Ross, 20. Tom Curry, 21. Joe Simpson, 22. Tom Curtis, 23. Arron Reed

Surprised to see Hill and Curry back this early, but I guess Hill barely played club rugby last season, and Curry only played 40mins over the summer so their workload levels won't have been as high as others
(Edit: Looking at other team lists it looks like the stand down period is over cause there's England players starting all over the place)
(Double Edit: Or maybe not, Quins tried to get Marcus Smith for this weekend and RFU said no:
Unfortunately for the Club, fly-half Marcus Smith was not given clearance to play this week and will continue his mandated rest period following England's summer internationals.
)

Hopefully Beaumont dropping out is just a case of managing his workload

Very happy with that side, though - especially Harper on the bench

I know RdC was a 7s specialist for years, is he covering the backs or is it a 6-2 split?
Is it by choice or because of injuries?
If by choice it feels a risk with both Redpath and Big Joe on the pitch

That said: Strong looking Bath side - should be a really good game (though Sale vs Bath games, in the past, have often been atrocious games - still can't wash the bad taste of the game in 2014 or so out of my mouth - pouring rain and we kept collapsing every scrum after realising the ref didn't want to card anyone, 2nd half saw the ball in play for about 15 seconds)

It's a 6-2 split, though he probably could cover the backs in an emergency; I think it's just that JvG likes bulk - note the complete tight 5 on the bench this and last week.

2014 - wasn't that the one where the ref carded plenty of people, but refused to award the penalty try, as you kept collapsing it the moment the ball was in, so no forward momentum was possible?
Or are we thinking of different Sale matches at the Rec?

Don't they all just blur into one giant disappointment after a while?

That actually rings a bell - think I'm getting penalty tries mixed up with yellow cards, remember it being genuinely laughable that we were getting away with it, but that ridiculousness being the only vaguely interesting aspect of the game

Some back row from Tigers this week.
6. Martin 1.98m/118kg
7. Chessum 2.00m/118kg
8. Liebenberg 1.97/110kg

No 10 cover for Tigers?
I know Gopperth is Mr Durable but at 63yrs old feels like a risk
Burns injured or on the very naughty step after the penalty try?

Oh wow yeah there really is no 10 cover. I know JVP has come off the bench at 15 for Tigers before; could he also be seen as suitable 10 cover?

Happy with that line up to be fair. Maybe Wasps stand more of a chance than I thought.
