On another note, now that players are starting to learn that they can't just fly off their feet and seal the ball off, does it feel like there is more competition at the rucks or is it just me?

There is, and its leading to new tackle tactics as well (see my comment at HT in the Quin's match)

Are these new laws going to ge in international as well as club?

With the amount of practise we're getting with these rules, and the quality of jacklers in England right now, we could do very well in the autumn at the breakdown

A couple of times Bath players have shown a slightly different, and effective tackle technique.

For that last tackle, it's almost like Rhys won the collision, and then toppled Ashton towards the Bath try line - where our forwards could beat Quins' to the ball. Usually, you want to knock the attacker back, and let your forwards arrive with momentum, whilst stealing it from the attacking backup
Well pulling a player towards your team has been used before. I can remember Wales, Scotland and Ireland especially using the tactic by just losing the collision, but pulling the player towards their team to make it easier to jackal. England adopted different tactics under EJ with the aim to win the collision and keep knocking the attack back until they made a mistake like knocking on or kick possession away. However, it meant less opportunities for England to turn the ball over at the ruck. Are the Pro 12 using these new laws too? I haven't see any of it so not sure how they are doing at the breakdown. Olyy is right we have so fantastic jacklers and it's playing to their strength.

Yeah, it's not unique by any stretch, but I don't recall seeing it used that much, or after dominating a tackle

I think that's where clubs in England has tackled differently to others tbh. However I'm happy if we can lead the way with new tackle techniques. Tbh I haven't seen the Bath/Quins match as I was out with the other half. I'll have a watch later.

Irish and Gloucester turning into a good game. Who is the ref btw? I don't recognise him.

What sort of ban do we expect Faz to get? High swinging arm to the head with force and no mittigating factors.

So ford faz is out.

Who do we expect to be FHs? If we took 3

Ford
Cips?(or is it pointless taking him)
Smith/Umaga

You'd be expecting Ford to start every game, so point in Cips (sad to say)
Smith as second choice.

Then there are options. Simmonds ought to be next can of the rank of you want 3FHs with the squad. Does Eddie rate Simmonds? If not, then Umaga it is.
Cipriani may come in if Ford is injured. But then, that's hardly developing for the future, and IF the concern is that he's also a disruptive influence, is that worth it if just for 1-2 matches? Much more worth it if for a whole window.

I suspect that, even if Ford picks up an injury that keeps himmout for both the 6Nb and the 8N, we'd go developmental, rather than Cips.

Can't see Cipriani coming in, EJ has never seemed that fond

Considering EJ said (pre-COVID) that he was going to rest a lot of first teamers this autumn you'd imagine he has an idea of what he's gonna do at 10. I don't think he'll go full first choice now that there's been several months rest for players, but he'll have players in mind.

Hopefully Simmonds, more likely Umaga, with Ford first choice.

Why are there premiership fixtures on friday week, same time as Euro w/e ?
Surely they don't expect teams to play both in a couple of days.

Pretty sure Baxter has already pointed it out that it's going to make things incredibly difficult.
