The wii has some support for keyboards but I believe it's limited to the internet channel only and not every usb keyboard is supported either. the 360 has that messenger kit thing which is meant to be pretty good. it seems odd that arguably the most powerful of the consoles has no way to write messages except for the controller itself.

not built in, you can use the controller no problem.

you can get a bluetooth keyboard that you can use for messages and stuff. I dont think think there are many games that support the use for keyboards, which is a bit annoying for some fps, if they do that would be awesome.

How does the PS store work?, how am I supposed to pay for what I want?. Is it an account I need to set up or something else?.

You set up an account and can use either a debit card, credit card, or playstation network cards, which come pre-loaded with certain amounts (these are not yet out though, so for now it's the first two).

OK i think I've decided to get this when I've saved up my pay. Just a couple of questions

1) Can I pop in those PS2 rugby games and kick someones butt online?
2) I can't rmb my other question(s)... will ask when i rmb.

It depends what model you get, apparently the cheaper ones that are out don't have backwards compatibility, so you won't be able to play it at all, let alone online....

1.if you get the model with ps2 support you can play but not online
ps i did this post on my ps3

Um if you get the model with backwards compatibility you can actually play them online.

not the rugby games since they dont have online capability, that was my point

Oops, just read the question you were responding to again. Your 100% right Woosaah! :)

Thanks for the helps. Couple more questions, need to make damn sure before I get one because I'm notorious for buying and not using.

1) Instead of a USB keyboard, can I just stick in a normal wired keyboard?

2) Wireless now, how many players can be on a game at one time? PS1 and 2 had the multi tap thing, what bout the PS3.

3) Do I have to pay to sign up and play PSN like XBOX LIVE?

4) Def going to need a smalller screen to play it on, any recommendations? My dad will go apeshit if I keep using the 33' one in the living room.

5) Damn stupid question. Can it read DVDs?

6) Locally, the 60GB and 80GB cost S$799. Same price. But are there any tangible differences between both? Logically, speaking ceteris paribus, I'll get the 80GB one.

7) Got a Wi-Fi modem @ home. So I don't need any wires for Internet, do I? Rdging system update downloads, just go to the website and D/L straight to the console?

Terribly sorry bout the loads of questions.

These answers are to the best of my (fairly broad) knowledge of the PS3.

1. The PS3 supports the standard wired USB keyboards and wireless Bluetooth keyboards. It does not support the old PS2 standard.

2. The PS3 can support up to seven players via wireless controller play.

3. No. Only to buy games or add-ons, eg extra maps for a game, tracks, or vehicles etc. Demos and trailers are free.

4. LCD is a good option. It'd be best to get a combination of the largest screen with the best resolution you can afford. Stick to repuatable brands and make sure that your screen has a fast refresh rate. At least 8m/s and it's important that it has a good motion-blur reducing feature. Look up LCD vs Plasma on the net and you'll find out why people take a little time to check these things out. If it's old CRT for you, then you'll miss out on a good slice of the HD quality graphics.

5. Yes, it can read dvds. It does an excellent job of upscaling these to 1080p. Where as it's no substitute for Blu Ray, it's a huge improvement over standard dvd signal.

6. Well, it depends on if the 60gb model has backwards compatibility, ie the PS2 emotion chip or emulation software in it. This is an imprtant feature if you want to play any PS2 ***les you may own. If not (and many don't care) then this'll be unimportant to you. Remember, and this is important, if you ever want to you can upgrade the HDD in the PS3 to any size you want, upto a current manufacturing size limit of 320gb. Or are they at 500gb? Anyhow, you can do this whenever you want in the future and it's easy. I have a 160gb in mine.

7. Two questions, lol. With wireless, yes you can game anywhere in your house that the wireless modem or router can send a signal to. The wireless works very well, just make sure your modem/router has a strong send/receive ability.

7. Part 2. You can either download the system updates direct from the machine. If ones available, it'll tell you, as long as the interent signal is on and you are signed in to Playstation Network. Or, of course you can download straight from your local Sony website. Don't download from the US if your in Europe and vice-versa (there are sometimes small compatibility issues).

Hope this has been helpful.

Thanks alot for ans-ing my questions. I'm def going to get one in a few months once I've saved up my intern pay.

I see you've changed your sig, going from rabid homosexual to rabid hetero!
