Huh....standard controller with the PS3?????? Mine is wireless and so light and I am amazed that the battery in it (It is so light that I wonder where is the battery???) can be charged from the PS3 itself rather than a charger. If this is a standard PS3 controller that came with the console then the next one must be out of this world!!!

The new one (Dualshock 3) is basically the same although a little heavier (many who've used it says this feels better actually), with full rumble control, whilst still retaining all the motion sensing ability of the existing sixaxis controller. Available in standard black, silver or ceramic white.

To Wally, I'm not sure what you mean, the phrasing of your question leaves me unsure about what is hooked up to what.

Geez, it seems I'm in what now seems like the dark ages of gaming and tv viewing with my Sky tv hooked up to a brand new Bravia with an antenna and alternate AV cable, the same with my PS2s S-video and Wii through AV. I've got some catching up to do me thinks. :blush:

Wally....I think I have some idea about what you are saying. I think one of the tragedies of new TV's is that they often have only one HDMI input which makes things complicated when trying to get a splitter for more than one signal going into the one port. Perhaps maybe a better idea would be trying to get the sound out FROM the TV into the home theatre rather than intercepting the sound before it reaches the TV.

Must admit having been onboard this thread from beginning, PS3 does sound extremely viable as a console of choice, and once I get a low enough price, it will be making a worthy addition to my entertainment centre.

As for HDMI, you can't beat a direct signal, end of story

Well I played for a few hours last night...and I have to say it was REALLY hard! I am finding it a bit difficult getting used to the controls. Somethings don't make sense with the buttons but I suppose I just have to persevere.

yeah it takes a bit of getting used to took me a couple of days. But i started beating the computer 6-0 and stuff and started scoring in some of my online games goiing down mainly in penalty shootouts (i really need to sort that out eh i hate how thats how the game is finished) I have alot of 2-all draws at the moment online, i need to tighten up my defense.

on a side note what periphial should i get?

a) playstation eye thing (for voice that Craig was talking about)
B) a bluetooth keyboard

i am tossing up, the keyboard is pretty expensive. unless someone can find a cheapish one for me. But also wouldnt mind the eye thing or a headset though i feel like a dick when my flatmates are in the room haha

Ya get used to it, with a bluetooth headset the flatmates won't hear any of the people your talking to, depending on your set-up, thats when you'll feel like a real idiot.

At least with the eye-camera the flatmates will hear who your talking to and not think your crazy.
