[November Tests 2016 EOYT] Ireland vs. New Zealand (19/11/2016)

I don't half think our media here are stupid. They always blow smoke up Beauden Barrett's arse. Golden balls Barrett. Play good for less than half the games of the season, gets worlds best player Barrett.

Oh the value of the drop goal. What could've been for Ireland. A couple of drop goals in the AB 22 and this match would look completely different.

Hm.

Squire, is not a starter.

Cane is not better than Savea.

Fekitoa, still can't tackle. Neither can Naholo, or Savea.

WAIT HANG ON?! Italy beat South Africa?!?!?!

Gutsy effort and a case of what might have been without the injuries. I think Ireland need to have a specific and different gameplan for when Jackson is at ten. He doesn't have the pace of Sexton so he can't keep the NZ defence as honest now. But he is good at game management and the territorial game. I can see Ireland having a sniff come the 6N.

NZ showing excellent discipline in defence in their own 22 and deserved the victory. But Ireland are the only side to have competed for 80mins against the ABs this year, and they did it twice. That doesn't happen by chance.

Oh right. You were sleeping :D

Yes. Shocking isn't it ? Not.

Excellent match. New Zealand took their chances in attack and were excellent in defense in their own 22. Can't argue with a team scoring 3 tries to 0 getting the win. Plenty of positives for Ireland with Josh van der Flier and Jamie Heaslip being the best performers in my opinion.

Doesn't matter. It was a nailed down, bolted on Penalty Try for the high tackle.

Not as if he'd missed high tackles though. Awful performance.

NZ good value for the win, their defence was the best I've seen in a while and took advantage of our stupidity. A rivalry is born though, these games will be epic until 2019.

NZ commentators talking about TJ and how his talent just explodes.

Anyway, as I was saying.

If Kaino is injured, I want Akira Ioane. The kid is talented. He can do everything at a high level.

Cane, surely it's clear that Savea is better....

TJ, we always knew the kid was talented, and he struggled internationally last season and the season before. But he doesn't anymore.. He doesn't. When he's been on, he looks the better half-back. He has that ability to produce things that not a lot of players in the world can do, which leads us to good things.

Our centres, they won't be the same next season. Anton Lienert-Brown will have to have a fantastic season, and I hope he does. Tamanivalu has moved on to the Crusaders, which shows the Chiefs intent. ALB will have everything at his fingertips to get a black jersey. But Steve loves Sonny Bill Williams. I don't think Fekitoa is the answer, but, we won't know until a team like South Africa plays their best players. The world has forgotten that Kriel and de Allende made Nonu and Smith look stupid a few times.

I feel we are always a risk of a yellow card with Moody and Franks. And that is no good.

I cannot wait to have Nehe back. And I hope Reiko Ioane has an absolute blinder of a season to really put the coaches in a spot.

Well done to the kiwis. Deserved win for them. Barrett outstanding and Retallick made a big difference as well.

Disappointing from Ireland in terms of attack but they gave it 100% so can't be too critical. Still need to develop more cutting edge in attack though.

The need to have two 12's in the 23 was the glaring weakness for me. Two 13's couldn't create anything, add our best playmaker in Sexton to the injury list and we were blunt. Our pack is better than NZ's but the lack of creativity outside our starting 10 and 12 added to some awful blunders in defence killed us.

NZ are catchable, we'll do it with Joe.

Apologies to NZ fans for Hansen's post game interview on RTE. Our media like to find less than amicable reasons when we lose playing well. You played hard and on the edge and that's why you won, its also proof as strong as your 18 game win streak as to why your the side to catch. I'll write my sober/hungover review tomorrow but for now, enjoy your win and I can't wait for next time!

Love,
A drunken Irishman lost in France.
