[Natwest 6 Nations] Round 4 : France Vs England (10/03/2018)

Here's another problem we went into 2 weeks ago but was apparent again today, where's the bloody leadership Hartley had none so not a reason to bring him back but despite the usual forwards played badly so Ford was clearly at fault chub on for Farrell we always get. He was completely anonmynous apart from when being asked to kick at goal probably made a good decision getting Daly to kick but I didnt see him rallying the troops.

Robshaw despite all his failings you could see talking to his players when England were playing badly. Nobody and I mean nobody stood up to be counted today. And that's really worrying.

Was it really leadership ? To me it looked like individuals not doing their bloody jobs ! Especially in the forwards . I've said it once and I'll say it again there no space for a lock in the back row HOWEVER GOOD A PLAYER THEY ARE

Ah Wales not beating England in 3 years is unfortunate I admit. But England loosing 2 on the bounce and being so bigged up to win the 2019 WRC, now that's great, kind of. Ordinary is a word that springs to mind.

I didn't mention a single lock in my post....I said there was no leadership.

You are literally everything wrong with Welsh armchair rugby fans ...... fortunately the six nations will be finished next week and we won't have to hear from you for a while

Aww, hurting a little bit are we? Its ok, it numbs with time.

As unfortunate as the fact Wales are playing Italy tomorrow in whats effectively a wooden spoon decider? Think you need to worry more about Wales than I have to about England.

And I said that I don't see leadership as the problem . The issue is we can't clear rucks, carry the ball or just generally impose ourselves physically on even the smallest of players

Nah I said a few posts ago that Wales's championship was done. I'm a realist. And to matters in hand.....

Yes but nobody is giving the troops a kicking over it, if armchair fans like me can see the problem why cant a player take bloody charge and start yelling at people to commit to bloody sucks.

Is Faz really better on the back foot?
His goal kicking is better which won't matter if our forwards can't win penalties, not sure he is better kickin from hand. His defence is just as questionable or have people forgotten how Huw jones ran through him? The only plus is he prob fits the defence system better at 10 than 12.

End of the day England won't be winning comp with a backwards pack so playing a 10 just becuase he is better behind one doesn't make much sense to me.

The logic behind this is so defeatist and retarded.

I'd rather we altered the side so that Ford isn't on the back foot, than concede to being on the back foot.
Particularly when it's fairly clear that we have the personnel to achieve that.

You can't give the troops a kicking over if they physically can't do what you are asking . I think it was mentioned earlier about Lawes being too tall for the back row, Robshaw is too slow for 7 and Hughes has only just come back from injury (and I've not been enamoured by him anyway)

A back row of
6. Robshaw
7. Anyone who actually plays 7
8. Hughes/Simmonds

That already looks better

We should be aiming for a
6. Sam Underhill
7. Tom Curry
8. Billy Vunipola

He is much better without question, Ford just allows sooo many meters to be made, they both miss tackles but Ford never puts in dominant hits, he always seems to be back penddling before contact is even made, at least Farrell gets off the line and takes the contact to the opponents.
Don't think there's a lot between them kicking from hand though, not to mention the fact that he's a Sarries player so probably has as good understanding of the defensive system as anyone.

I think you could play Lawes at 6 if you had a specialist 7 and Billy in as he does good work at the breakdown too.

For me though it's not just the back row. It's about balance throughout the pack. It's weak in carriers and full of workhorses

Amen to that. Its not a fly halfs problem that hes getting **** ball its the packs problem. If your just going to select a fly half that can play behind a crap pack (no one springs to mind as its the pack primary job to secure good ball) then we should just pack up and go home.

Sort the quality of possession out and let Ford work his magic, dont drop Ford because the pack isnt doing its job.

What you needing to beat Italy? yeah lets see

I 'think' we'll beat Italy. And if you're honest with yourself so do you. I 'think' we'll win our last 2 games, unlike some I could mention. Having said that, we all know s*** happens. Its all good in love and war.

Exactly.

Telling Alex Goode to run faster doesn't help anyone. He can't do it.
