[Natwest 6 Nations] Round 4 : France Vs England (10/03/2018)

Cowen-Dickie did more in his cameo than any england hooker all 6n's TBF

Such as spilling the ball in contact, getting isolated, getting away with dummy throws, and over throwing. Class.

That said his effort is massive, George was anonymous by comparison. Would bin a number of the starting XV.

Well when I usually think of Ireland I tend to think of #2.

Was going to get tickets for that game glad I'm just focusing on Cheltenham instead.
Well let's hope you back Irish these type of weeks seem to create luck of Irish

So that was ******* awful, but now for my little input.

Ruck was ****. Robshaw was the only one actually trying and showing some heart, but ended up conceding penalities. Sinks was much better when he came on and Haskell's tactic of just running into it seemed to be working. Lawes can go **** himself cause he's ****.
Lineout was pretty good. But we've got three second rows on the pitch, so if it wasn't then that would have been embarrassing.
Watson did absolutely nothing and when Brown came on he injected quite a lot into the attack. Joseph looked, like Joseph I guess, lots of little jumping in front of tacklers, but not actually achieving anything. Care needs to be on the bench and start Robson. Ford needs to go find some growth hormones and all the forwards need to stop getting boshed by a left wing.
Ok, so if we're gonna give up on the win and just see what we can do, then this is how we should line up next week:
Marler, George, Sinckler, itoje, launchbury, robshaw, Armand, Simmonds, Robson, Smith (**** it why not), Daly, Farrell, Te'o, solomona, Brown. Bench - mako, Cowan dickie, Williams, Lawes, mercer, Care, JJ, watson

The impetus added by Sincks and LCD was huge. They cleared rucks and hit so hard. The difference they made was immense.

Simmonds looked hugely under powered.

Robshaw has heart yes but isn't a 7. Doesn't work in the role he's being asked to do.

Ford/Farrell/Te'o was a painful combination, Joseph added nothing.

Didn't see much from Watson and he pretty much played like Brown, he didn't have the space or time to work with.

Daly is hugely intelligent and should be at 13 or 15.

The three locks initially dominated the lineout, but Lawes being cleaned out by Grosso sums it up, height isn't always great to dominate those areas.

Care was headless.

I can't think of much positive except for the fact that we had numbers 16 and 18 on the bench who showed more power and impact than any other forward in the short time they were on.

Annoyingly other than bringing someone in for Hughes, will there be any huge changes to the side for next week?

Probably not. And that's what will rile me. That side has no chance against the Irish. Zero. zilch. They're awful tbh. It was painful.

How do we change it? You drop the dead wood, you look at Cole meandering around looking like he couldn't be arsed. I heard Care shouting 'Coley Coley up up' because rather than following the ball carrier he was hovering in front of Ford, despite there already being decoys in place.

There are no excuses for me in that game. We have some serious talent, and some awesome players, but we also have lads that don't do a job for the side, don't offer what they need to offer.

Lawes height is rightly mentioned.... there's a very good reason that most top level flankers are around 6'-6'4".
Any taller and your CNS and leverage is a massive disadvantage... it's a fundamental problem and it's why I dislike players built like Itoje and Lawes being put in the back row.

Think of the most explosive players in the game - Robinson, Shane, NMS... they're almost all really short. It's because of their CNS.

In neon lights with naked ladies draped over it:

DEAR MR JONES, THE BACKROW AND SCRUM HALF AIN'T WORKING

Breakdown, breakdown, breakdown. Don't secure your own ball and get beyond the gainline then England deserve to what they got. Backrow's lack of balance is indicative of England's problems there, but it's a whole team problem. Not sure what the solution is in 1 week; too late to make too many changes, but one or two are certainly needed. Hartley if fit to return, as there was a real lack of leadership out there, as Jerry Guscott said. Will Underhill and Nowell be ready by then?

I can't help having the 3 test series v South Africa this summer at the back of my mind. That is turning into a huge series and if any big changes or a real settled XV to be made with 15 months out from RWC.

What I would give to have a proper back up to Billy.

The tiger in me wants ford to be dropped and Faz at 10, then Ireland to batter us just to show Faz doesn't **** gold.

Anyone think Billy being out was a big part of the issue he wouldn't neccacerly fix the breakdown but does do a hell of a lot of ball carrying and almost always gets on the front foot, we do seem to have lacked any gain line success which is always going to make the break down more difficult.

Nah can't have an England 23 with not a single Tiger. Madness.
