London 2012

How long is the run?

10km

20-odd women in the top bunch at the start of the run. NZ has two in the leading pack, so I'm quite happy about that. Kate McIlroy could be an outside chance of a medal, as running is by far her strongest discipline (see used to be world mountain running champion - whatever mountain running is?).

2ish mins gap between the lead and the chase going in to T2, they won't catch them but with the size of the lead group it should make for a good run! A number of racers not taking their turns at the front, as well, so they'll be looking to go hard.

That's not much... I guess runners who didn't finish the cycling in the leading pack (up to Lucy Hall) are out of contention now.

You trying running 10km after a 1.5k swim and 40k bike

Olympic triathlon's are (kind of) short and sweet, if you want endurance go for half ironman/ironman triathlon.

I would have drowned after a few hundred metres... I wouldn't even make it to the bike ;)

A bit of a breakaway in the run, with a group of 7 with a wee break out in front. EDIT: Make that 6 (or possibly 5). Andrea Hewitt still looking good ;) Jenkins still there too.

Down to five now.
Will be interesting to see if/when Jenkins tries to break away - she's not much of a sprinter so will need to get a bit of a gap if possible, or at least knacker out the others!

I think the pace is pretty high at the moment - they seem to be dropping someone off every km.... Hewitt looks in trouble now...

Hewitt's dropped off now, so a group of 4 battling for the three medals.
Jenkins looking in trouble, to be honest - keeps dropping a little before recovering. Could just be saving her legs, mind.

I've tried, and that didn't end well (actually, it didnt' really "end").

I was asking because one of the competitors was in my high school, and I know she used to specialize in longer distance running. I was under the illusion she could still get a medal, but that was just wishful thinking it seems.

Groff back again - 5 back in the lead pack now.

Jenkins really struggling now... she's gone...

Yep Hewitt's dropped off.

THese girls have excellent stamina./ Screw swimming 10kms and biking, AND running! I'm tired just thinking about it...

Jenkins dropped and Groff, the American, out of nowhere in to the lead pack!

The Swedish silver medalist is jumping off happiness, and running to celebrate, after running a full triathlon and sprinting very impressively in the end. She's a ****ing monster!

Looks like they are giving it to Spirig, but I'd like to see that finish again!

Amazing how they can go that far running, swimming etc and not be separated
